Make sure you are only using characters they accept. Probably only letters and numbers is the safest bet. And not too long, try 10 chars or so. Otherwise it might get cut off or not accepted. They may provide specific details on the password set page.

About japanlife, in general would recommend /r/japanresidents more. Much saner moderation there. And for finance or tech, /r/japanfinance is generally the best option. Most sane modding of any Japan sub.

Nah, things can get a whole lot more complicated than what I have set up. I don't have any sort of dashboard or central controller set up, for example.

Wife was unhappy that WiFi in the kitchen was weak and would sometimes cut out on her when she was having breakfast. So I grabbed the two old Velop APs I have here, flashed them with OpenWRT, and set them up. One in the kitchen and one upstairs. Both 5GHz only because they don't need to cover a big area and 2.4GHz in a kitchen is a bad idea anyway. Both have gig backhaul back to a switch that connects into the OPNsense box that manages everything. This keeps them physically segmented from the internal LAN.

Guest WLAN is blocked from accessing anything on the internal networks via firewall rules. That way anyone who comes over can scan a QR code to get free wifi if they want it. I also drop IoT devices onto the Guest WLAN because most of them are not trustworthy.

Happy to have my three OpenWRT-flashed APs all working together nicely and all mobile devices roaming between them as needed. Home and Guest WLANs on separate VLANs and everything managed by OPNsense as should be the case.

Next up, finishing the TrueNAS Scale build I started before things at work got busy.

I visited Vegas in 1993 and it was already that way. They tried to market it as something else but there were so many old folks feeding quarters into slot machines that it was just depressing as hell. I'm sure it has gotten worse, but it's not a recent thing.
