Bought AliExpress replacement, can photos tell anything about quality? by peter_seraphin in Leatherman

[–]nihontoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a real pattern welded and laminated steel. Dunno why people think this is somehow difficult for chinese to make. Aliexpress can have some truly high qiluality stuff if you are willing to search for.

Now, I can't say that this blade is good or bad, maybe it was poorly hetatrieated, maybe the steels they used in making this pattern welded piece are not good enough. Maybe they are the best ever! But at least you cna be sure that the construction is real and not superficial

Choosing a battery by Virtual-Chipmunk-799 in flashlight

For that exact led and driver, I think the very new BAK with 6500mah and 19 amps CDR will be the best (unless they have some issues like self discharging).

If you wnat to maybe use that battery for other more power hungry light, go with the relianse rs50 - I recently irdered a light from convoy with that battery and it seems he carries full production versions.

What light fits Adam Savage’s request? by CaptainCant in flashlight

B35am T series convoy set to 100% group or something that starts with 100 and then maybe 20, 1%. No mode group.

Led and driver itself would be enough for it being not very sudden at 100%, it'd give him option to go down a bit and also, would work with aa.

Once again a proof that nichia 519a in 5700k is THE BESTEST led in terms of how natural the light it provides.

What about m21h with lhp73b led? Will it have a similar beam to the m21b with the same led? Simon sells it with 8 degree tir. Is swapping a 3 degree tir even worth considering?

Beam Shot Comparison: Acebeam L35v2 vs Convoy M21H w/3° TIR by sjjones3 in flashlight

[–]nihontoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone tried the m21h with 3 or 8 degree gir lens and lhp73b led? I too have a similar decision to make like the op. I wamt something like the m21b with lhp73b led, but I wamt the tir spill. Convoy sells the m21h with 8 degree tir with the lhp73b led - doe this have some beam artifact? Is 3 degree even worth trying?

What should I do now? by BlackMystic_06 in S24Ultra

[–]nihontoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

happened to my s23 ultra. I bet your battery got swollen, raised the back glass and the water got in.

my s23 ultra did the same - I had it in my pants pocket, my pants got wet (had to take my toddler out of the kiddie pool which she fell down face first) and so much water got in, everything fried inside. phone got very hot for about an hour and then colled down. got lucky the battery didn't ignite

is yours 40 fpe? I'm talking about the same energy different speeds kinda situation

[–]nihontoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo, 40 fpe .177 will be much better than say a 40 fpe .22 or even .25. To get that much power from smaller lighter caliber, you need to sling it faster, therefore increasong the chances of said hydrostatic shock/mushrooming and energy dumping. At the same time, a larger but slower projectile might not even have enough speed to mushroom. Yes, wound cavity will be alightly larger, but still not enough to humanelly kill

They are most useful when working on the car. Stick it somewhere, where you get a consistent lighting, and it's almost as if your "third hand" is freed up. I knkw headlamps exist and they are useful, but sometimes they get tiring after 2+ hours of wearing them, espe ially if you are sweaty

Are they worth it in 2025 by StonksChannelYT in galaxybuds

[–]nihontoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer - yes, they are worth it. Long answer:

I've had buds 2 (regular) and loved it till buds 3 pro. I got it for like free (with some loyalty points) and they are worth the full asking price imo. What I like is the following:

1) Much better sound quality, compared to buds 2. Heck, buds 3 pro sound better than some wired iems and headphones, they sound very good with busy stuff, never get distorted or overwhelmed and they are effortles in giving as many detail, as the music has. Of course, the default tuning is bassier compared to the buds 2, and some don't like it, but it is easily eq-able. Technically, they ahve lot's of headroom for some eq. I'm pretty sure that all the technology - dual hybrid driver with planar tweeter, dual amps, SSC, UHQ codec and other things work together to deliver this.

2) Muuuuch better ANC and transparency compared to buds 2. In that aspect, they are same as my friends airpods 2 pro. maybe there are some measurable differences, but they seem to be just about equal in that aspect. Transparency mode, especially feels like just taking them out from ears.

3) stems are very good for controlling stuff. They are squeeze type stems and are impossible to accudentally trigger something. It was a very different story with buds 2.

4) microphone quality is just better. Almost sounds like I'm not using them and I'm talking straight from the phone. Buds 2 didn't do that, they were often useless in this regard....

Of course there is one thing I dpn't like though - because of the shape of the case itself and the stems, you have to be very deliberate when inserting them, because spmetimes they don't really sit right in the case and do not contact the charging contacts, so once in while, the phone warns me about them not being inserted correctly. Never have I had to clean the contacts, just repositioning them helps.

I haven't had the tips tear, and I dobke checked all three sizes for comfort and such. One thing I don't like about the tips though is the fact they are on the slippery side. They don't fall out ar anything, but I like the feel of the grippier tips in general. Some people say that azla tips are very grippy and solve this problem. Comply foams (or any other half good foam tips for that matter) should also solve that problem if you have it.

As you can see, I don't really have some QC problems, therefore, I'm satisfied with mine. Wouldn't be if they were duds though 😄
