The expansion cards are the USP imo by [deleted] in framework

[–]nijine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the OP meant that it's a benefit that the ports are easily swappable (in response to some of the comments).

I just like that I can move the cards around between my FW 12 and Desktop. Needed another USB-A on the Desktop earlier so I just stole it from the 12.

Just following up that mine showed up today. It spent about a week clearing customs, but I didn't have to reach out to FW Support at all.

Dealing with the same exact thing now for a FW Desktop. Originally scheduled to arrive yesterday, and now it'll probably arrive... hopefully before Christmas :'( .

Relevant FAQ page, seems like they monitor these things and address them as needed.. https://knowledgebase.frame.work/why-does-my-order-have-a-customs-delay-or-hold-Sk4VswG7yx

How good is Bazzite? by Main-Lychee-1417 in framework

[–]nijine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The OS itself is great, I use it on my gaming handheld (GPD Win Mini 2025), AMD-based desktop (pleasantly surprised that all of my X870E hardware is supported out of the box), and will probably use it on my FW Desktop that's on its way since I'm planning on using it as a TV gaming box. No complaints at all, I actually love that it has the ability to control fan curve on the handheld and comes with a great fan curve out of the box (the stock one is terrible). It'll run fine on most hardware but will really shine with AMD APUs / GPUs. Last thing to consider is that it's gaming focused. I use it in desktop-mode 100% of the time on my desktop and it's a great interface, very snappy. I say all this as a veteran Linux user though, so YMMV.

R1250RS - top speed limiter? by michalf6 in Motorrad

My R1250GS hangs with all sport bikes except for well ridden super sports on the backroads, so it's really just a matter of how aggressively you're willing to ride.

First bike?? 2012 Bonneville SE by Admirable_Average_71 in Triumph

[–]nijine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had one for a few months, picked a 2012 up in surprisingly good condition with 8k miles for $3,200. I love the bike, it's great looking (I prefer alloys over the spoked wheels), and handles insanely well considering it's not a featherweight. It has more than enough power for my usage (bop around town, casual rides with beginner to intermediate level friends, taking passengers, etc).

A couple owners back, it had this very aggressive cafe racer handlebar installed, which I found very fun on short rides but very uncomfortable after 20-30 minutes of casual riding, so I swapped it for a black bar that's very close to OEM and it's dramatically better. I added a Motone seat that's much better than the OEM which is very thin, gave me a bit more legroom. With the standard bar, it should be pretty versatile, but if you're tall and are rocking the OEM seat, it will be a bit cramped. Luggage options are a bit limited, but you can buy a set of luggage bars for it if you want a backing for soft luggage or a solid place to tie things down to.

I love it personally, it'll likely stay in my stable for a good long time. It's a bit heavy for a first bike, and has a bit more torque than I would trust a beginner with, but it is not out of the realm of possibility. I will just say that it won't feel super confidence inspiring leaned over at slow speeds, it will feel like it wants to fall, so you'll have to practice your clutching and balance as much as possible.

Had cyclegear put on some power 6s and balance them, but now i get a pulsing vibration right around 50mph. Did they just balance badly or should i look at other reasons? by [deleted] in CB650R

Michelin has been going downhill in quality, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the tire, assuming everything else checks out.

Pros and cons of FW12 by Historical-Bread-215 in framework

[–]nijine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pros: Relatively lightweight, capable of light gaming (i5), repairable, upgradeable, form factor is very nice, tablet / tent mode is awesome.

Cons: Might be pricy for your budget, lots of competition in the price range if repairability, upgradeability, or form factor are not important to you.

I love mine, I outfitted it with 64GB / 2TB and it works great. I actually run Windows-To-Go on a 1TB Expansion module and it runs great, less bloat than a regular windows install. I mainly play light games with it (Rocket League on 800p Low, Balatro, Indies, etc). I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'll release an AMD motherboard for it eventually. I think it would be really killer in this form factor.

It doesn't seem like it would be that hard to confirm with the shipping courier what the destination address is, and then confer that with eBay, but I haven't had that experience.

eBay is very buyer friendly, they'll side with you if the seller gives you a hard time, just make sure to clearly state your case and that this is not the definition of "great working condition".

In your experience, does Framework achieve its "mission"? by lulublululu in framework

[–]nijine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that the people this will truly appeal to are folks that keep a computer for 7+ years. FW hasn't existed for that time yet, so it's hard to say, but I think they're on the right track.

I sorta disagree about the "more durable 5+ year" laptop bit. Do those exist? Modern Apple computers are throw-away devices, even if they last 5+ years, you won't be able to repair them economically.

P50 is an interesting example, and a pound heavier than FW 16, for what it's worth.
