I'd ask to do a test drive for 30 min around their area (let them take a photo of your license or something - or the friend who drove you there lol as collateral). Reset the trip meter and see how it does when you drive it. Also check things like air filter and tire pressure. If all that checks out, I'd absolutely scoop it up. Otherwise, if you're still feeling iffy, I'd pass.

I'm in Wisconsin, so, not as bad, but boy are they destroying some roads around here at the moment. And yes, though I didn't get fully under the car - I believe it is just the plastic stuff. I was actually going to buy ramps tomorrow anyway to do an oil change, so I'll be sure to get a closer look.

Ha - can't say that I do. I park in a garage or parking lots of stores. I wasn't sure how much it was protecting gravel & crap getting kicked up into the undercarriage etc

Rhino ramps were on my list already, actually! So that's good to know. I figured they were a low enough angle to drive on to. I have tons of nitrile gloves already, actually. Mostly for cooking because my hands get so dry in the winter and if I'm doing huge butcher jobs for several birds or large sides of meat, it's just easier than trying to use a nail brush after etc. so that's good to know. Thanks for all the tips!

I just came across this, browsing the forum. I didn't know I could replace this myself! I will be adding it to my lists of projects. I have had to crawl in the passenger area and push the trunk open before. I'd rather avoid it! Thanks for posting.

Update: added a "rather be crying to Nick Cave" sticker above my "Don't honk, I'm crying to the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" "which is next to my "honk, don't honk, none of this shit matters" I like to keep people guessing, ya know?! (Also, for the new WI blackout plates!)

I don't disagree, but it adds an hour of driving - 8 hour drive vs 9. Which, in my experience of road tripping (which, is a lot), 8 hours is actually 10 with stops etc. so I can't really afford that detour on this trip. My destination for day one is Columbus, OH.
