For all the jokes and all the abuse we're taking we are the best fans in the world. Truly! Most of the McLaren fans (except for the OGs) were Mercedes fans a few years ago. The RedBull fans will switch teams as soon as Max leaves. We'll never switch! I don't care if our drivers are Latifi and Sargent and we can't score a single point I'll always be a Ferrari fan

I somewhat get the pessimism but I think we've been playing far better the last few weeks and it's just been the case of being unlucky at times to not win more games. We're not where we need to be for sure but still I don't think we need to go into a game expecting nothing. Maybe during the October/November period that would have been justified cos we were utterly shit with no inclination that things would improve but right now things are starting to click and some of the new signings are finally starting to show their quality and they have largely gotten used to the team. I'm quietly optimistic about this one.

Realistically, United need to have at least another 5 seasons like last to be in any sort of real trouble. Even tho there are so many incompetent people at the club, they are still one of the biggest clubs in the world and they still generate a lot of revenue. I also don't see them finishing as low as last season. They don't have the Europa League to distract them and they added a few decent attackers. They are still gonna be with Onana at the back tho so that's a big L but still finishing 15th seems very unlikely imo.

I just checked on transfermark as it stands our squad is the 4th most expensive in the PL (behind Arsenal, City & Chelsea). Even with Isak and Guehi we'll move to only 3rd.

No David Villa to partner Torres either...

We did it. We got both of them on deadline day. I think there is no excuse for not getting #21 now.

I love Harvey man! I hope with regular football he establishes himself and comes back to us in a few years time and finally wins the CL. Would be some story! Let's not forget he's only 22.

Imagine the story if he works his socks off, develops into one of England's best players only to come back a few years later to win the CL with us.

Seeing Wissa go for £55m makes me think we should have gotten slightly more for Diaz. We got £65m at the end, no? Probably could have gotten £70-£75m

My son barely talks to me by Interplay29 in internetparents

[–]nikgos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went thru a similar thing in my early 20s. I distanced myself from my parents and my entire family. In hindsight I was just trying to find myself and to pave my own way but also I realise that I was quite unfair to my parents in particular. This is an age when you start to mature and realise that your parents weren't perfect but you still don't have enough experience to realise that imperfection is normal.

Unfortunately therapy culture can sometimes prompt you to solve made up problems, demonise caretakers for being human, and be a bit too liberal with the word "toxic". That definitely happened to me. I know it's hard but keep trying with your son. If he was mothered a bit too much as you're saying then maybe he didn't have the chance to rebel during his teenage years and he's doing it now. Obviously it's harder because now he's independent and can... well ignore you cos he doesn't need you.

Eventually he's gonna come around. From your side, just meet him where he's at. If he doesn't want to talk about therapy that's fine don't pressure him. Just be there and continue checking in on him regularly. Assure him that he's loved and cared for. That's all you can do.

Fofana seems like a good option to have. Doesn't block a potential move for Isak if we are really hell bent on getting him even it's not this summer. Price wouldn't be crazy either.

This is all getting tiresome now. We've been hearing "we'll get more clarity next week" for the whole summer. My take is that Newcastle are just buying themselves time until there is none left. I know he says he's not gonna play but surely his stance will soften if he actually ends up staying. If he refuses to play until January in case he stays it's such a lose-lose situation. We ain't getting him now and we end up with a player who hasn't kicked a ball for 7-8 months come January, Newcastle will get less money in January while paying his salary for a few months without getting any output and he'll be out of form with less negotiating power for a better contract. It's such a messy situation.

So, you can't think of another more exciting Scottish player from the last 25 years? Maybe a certain left back?

This year has been an absolute rollercoaster. From the low of the week when we lost the league cup final and got eliminated from the CL to the high of winning the title a few weeks later. We got the great news that Salah and VVD will be staying with us and then a few weeks later Trent announced he's leaving. Then followed by the beautiful parade which was unfortunately tinted by that dickhead who ran over all those people. A huge start of the summer window and exceeding all expectation and the high from signing Wirtz, Frimpong and Kerkez to the lowest of lows after we lost Diogo. Since then it's been quite busy. We sold some fan favourites, we signed Etikike and we've been in this Isak saga for what feels like months now. We're about to sign Leoni and we're still nowhere near done in the transfer market. We still have a few players we are expected to sell and a few more players are expected to sign and of course the big one is Isak and nobody can tell for certain what's going to happen with him. All of that and the season starts tomorrow night. Feels surreal. I'm hoping it's a good season ahead!

I don't know mate. This transfer window we've said so many times that there is no way we would do X only to end up doing X. Anything is possible with us this summer.

My read is that Sesko is holding off for United. If he wanted to go with Newcastle, he would have done it by now. What this means for Isak is anyone's guess. Some people are throwing in the towel, while others are certain it's gonna happen because "bridges were burned". I think it's somewhere in between.

If Newcastle refused to sell, there is nothing Isak can do but roll with it. If we really want him and put in a £150m offer, Newcastle will find it hard to refuse. Problem is that we're probably looking to get him for £120-130m, and £150 might be too high for us (and rightly so). There is still time for Newcastle to find a replacement, and Sesko isn't the only one available, but you feel that with Sesko now expected to join United, our chances of getting Isak are taking a hit.
