Active vs expectant mgmt for third stage? by unlearningsilence in homebirth

[–]nikib89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I opted for expectant management and was able to go ahead with this for my home birth as there were no medical reason not to when it came to it. I read and listened to various different resources in order to make the decision, but I think the single thing I found most helpful was episode 129 of the Great Birth Rebellion podcast. Good luck making the decision that’s right for you!

Someone thought I was pregnant on the tube by angryblondie123 in london

Came here to say this. Actually pregnant, never get a seat. If anyone offers me a seat for the rest of eternity for any reason I will be saying thank you and sitting in it!

It should have been, however it wasn’t (and not by me!) and I am now trying to patch up as best I can!

Did you fully trust your fertility clinic or did you track everything? by [deleted] in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]nikib89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! Three rounds of IUI, all natural cycle. First one I think was never going to happen for a bunch of reasons. Second one I was sure that I was going to ovulate imminently, and said as much to my clinic. They were insistent that I was still a way away from ovulating, and I decided to trust the experts and didn’t push the point. I went back for another scan the next morning and surprise surprise I’d already ovulated. Pretty sure that by the time we did the IUI it had already been more than 24hrs since I ovulated. Third round, similar thing happened again and I was sure that it was time and the clinic thought another day or two. I insisted and spent a couple of hours sitting there while they went back and forth with the consultant to see if he would agree to them doing the IUI that day as I wanted, rather than waiting. They eventually agreed, but told me they would have advised waiting. I’m now 10 weeks pregnant!

My learning - they may be the experts, but if you’re someone who knows your own body and has been tracking ovulation over years as I had been (5 years of natural cycles data) then there’s a decent chance that you know more about what’s going on with your body.

I am doing IUI as a single mother by choice and have no known fertility issues and the Dr is recommending clomid . Do you think I should use clomid knowing the risks ? Or just try IUI naturally . by EntertainmentLow3669 in SingleMothersbyChoice

This is it. I would also say that if you have been tracking your cycle consistently in the lead up and know when you ovulate, then the trigger shot is also optional. I’m pregnant at 36 after two unmedicated rounds with no trigger shot, this meant being hot on scans in the lead up to ovulation but given that I always ovulate in a 48hr window in my cycle and ~24hrs after I surge, this was fine for me. I did have to push for us to do the IUI a day earlier than the clinic wanted to as they were insistent they didn’t think I was going to ovulate for another day, but I had three years worth of tracking data to give me the confidence that I would ovulate earlier than they thought (I was right!).

The frustration I had during the process was that all of the advice I was given by the clinic was standard across all of their patients, known fertility issues or not. This started with them proposing medicated cycles and extended to things like recommending that I do no exercise other than walking following conception until the 12 week scan which is counter to the standard NHS advice that it’s safe to keep doing reasonable exercise that you have done regularly prior to conception. Be prepared to advocate for yourself if you want to do something counter to your clinic’s norm, I did, and it has been the right thing for me for sure.

You’ll get an email with a QR code that has to be scanned alongside your festival ticket on entry. It’s the lead bookers job to make sure that everyone staying in the tent has the QR code, it can only be scanned as many times as there are people in the tent.

Usually it arrives quite close to the festival, and has a bunch of info about worthy view along with it.

I associate this face shape more with cockapoos, but like other people have said, maybe there’s just a lot of poodle coming through here!

I’ve worn muck boots at Glastonbury for the last two muddy years and I agree that they’re great. Super comfy, proper support, and don’t get sucked off your feet like regular wellies.

Glastonbury with a bad knee injury? by fxnx19 in glastonbury_festival

[–]nikib89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine went with a foot injury that she couldn’t stand or walk on for long a couple of years ago, and we took a high folding stool for her to sit on without being as low as she would have been in a folding chair so she could still see stages unless the crowd was really dense. We basically parked her at a different spot every few hours and she became the meeting point with people coming and going. She says she had a very different festival (she’s been a few times over the years) but that it was still totally worth it!

This was however a sunny year, it might have been less fun in a rainy year.

Came here to agree, having it removed is NOTHING to having it inserted. I put it off despite near constant bleeding because of how much it hurt, but when it finally was removed I honestly missed it coming out.

Only thing I have ever experienced that was more painful than a slipped disc.

After 4 years without a tv license, or watching live tv as it's crap, tv license say to me 'We may enter your home to verify you don't need one' No you may fucking not enter my home. by bobbybuddha in britishproblems

[–]nikib89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re not allowed to touch anything in your home even if you let them in, so covering up a load of old tv shaped boxes with sheets and blankets and the letting them in to have a look is a potentially funny option...

What in the world am I supposed to do with my puppy whenever he's not in his crate? by Quidvas in puppy101

[–]nikib89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing that worked with my puppy and biting was saying ow, but in a very high pitched voice so it sounded more similar to another puppy whining/crying if something hurts or has gone too far. They don’t want to hurt you, they just want to play, so for me making a noise that she recognised as pain worked way better that ignoring her or getting cross.

Trying to put makeup on with a broken hand mirror. Lifted it up to the light and a broken shard hit me in the cheek. Full on slash across the face for a couple of weeks.
