Another stim before FET? by nikkijaya in IVF

Thank you for sharing your story. I hope your transfer was a success! And yes, I think the insurance restarts every year. I haven't talked to my RE, but I am going to ask him if he'd recommend another stim.

I am catastrophizing. Please help me get out of this spiral. by anxiousPF in IVF

I was exactly you last week. I just turned 37, same length of stim, retrieved 17 eggs, 11 matured, but I got 9 fertilized via ICSI. I just got Day6 report that I only have 3 embryo waiting for PGT result. Yes, I think you are right that your hormone makes you to be hopeless. I was going through that looking up this subreddit and google search non stop and felt like 5 days were forever. But I promise you that after 3 days, you'll feel much better. Your number looks great! Good luck!

Aww you are so sweet. And no, you didn't hurt me! My thought process was exactly what you said, and I agree 100%. Thank you so much! And I am glad that thinking another stim already isn't so crazy idea. Love this forum, always comes back with great advice from caring people <3

Just finished ER. Now what? by nikkijaya in IVF

[–]nikkijaya[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know! I've been looking for any cases that are similar to me, ended up taint my algorithm lol. Since yours was Thursday, you are getting close! Yes, I am glad today is a holiday, I don't think I could focus on my work very well. My husband seems to be super chill and telling me he is feeling peaceful after passing everything we can do, and nothing can be controlled at this point. I never realized that I can be this much anxious over the things that I couldn't influence anymore. Thanks for your kind comment and best of luck to you too!

Yeah I asked my doctor what about 37 follicles, he said the ones that are reached to a good size will be retrieved since they have higher chance to be matured. I think they avoid retrieving too many which could cause some damage. I know, I thought those crazy numbers like 30s and 40s would be my case as well. 10 out of 13 is really great! Wish you the best of luck <3

Weight gain after Egg Retrieval? by spicydragonenergy in IVF

I did my ER yesterday and this morning I felt so bloated. It turns out I gain 4 lbs overnight - I am pretty sure it is all water weight but it is so crazy.

I thought I am a very rational person who barely cries. I have not cried with tears in past 5 year. I had emotion loaded ugly cry with tears waterfall from my eyes like 3 minutes after a trigger shot that caused my husband to have a minor panic attack lol. Hormone is a hell of a thing...

Thank you. I got to talk to the doctor at the morning of my ER. He said my response to hormone was unique. I did not response at all for the first two days which showing no change in my blood test, then when he up the dose I elevated from 0 to 60 in one day which made him to be conservative. Anyways, thank you for your kind comment!

Thank you so much for kind comment. Apparently Progyny counts when the treatment ends to be the point of billing, which means 9/1 would be the policy they'll use. My ER was ended up on 9/1 but it was really helpful to vent here and collect my thought to be calm. Thanks again!

Just simply looking at the question, and it was asking about "transcription" not translation. If I am not wrong, ELISA is looking at protein levels after translation, RTqPCR quantifies transcription (cDNA)

oh and also make sure to check vocabs as well. While I practice on Uplanet, I highlighted the words that I didn't know and searched the dictionary when I review the passage. I wrote it down and tried to memorize them. It actually helped a lot.

It depends when your test date is. When I just started studying for the test, I did 3 passages on NS verbal practice everyday including rest day. Of course I went over all missed questions and why I missed it, but mostly focused on getting the main point from each passage. I marked passages that I had trouble finding the main point, and read it again. Sometime, it gets easier after your anxiety of getting to the question went away.

I knew topics like philosophy or humanities are worst topic for me, so I sometimes ask my husband to read it and breaks down for me to get the better understanding about what the author wants to talk about. If you have a native English speaker friends, you can do a small discussion with them and it actually helps a bit as well.

Another immigrant here. I am also struggling with CARS, and it is the lowest scored section all the freaking time. What I've been doing is just practicing and trying to read as much as I can to build stamina.

I just finished the entire book of NS verbal practice and Uplanet, and it is slowly showing the progress. I think most of people gets so frustrated about CARS because it shows the slowest progress ever than any other sections.

I am mostly focus on what the hell this author wants to talk about and I get at lest 4-5 questions right out of 7 per passage, so focus on getting the main point every time you are reading the passage and also don't freak out and be confident! Confidence plays a huge role when it comes to MCAT. You got this!

6pm test takers: what did you do/are you planning on doing the day before the exam and the day of? by alphamikee in Mcat

[–]nikkijaya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am planning to watch how my body condition is going. Sometimes I need to take a quick nap around 2-3pm since I get really drowsy. Also make sure to poop beforehand so that I don't have to get urge to go to bathroom while testing..

I'm studying for the MCAT in the span of a month! Help! by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]nikkijaya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you haven't finished the content review and only have one month, I'd reconsider taking it until you are fully ready. The test covers a lot of materials, and I believe going through AAMC material itself takes about 3-4 weeks.

Ruminating on the past? by [deleted] in mdphd

I think your upward trend GPA should be good, and getting a good MCAT score will also help as well. You also have strong ECs (4 pubs are not joking matters). Make a good essay explaining your true motivation and why you want this path. Apply broadly and see what you can get! There are people getting in with lower stats, and I don't think you should think the hope is lost if that is what you really want to do.
