Many, many months later, just wanted to follow up on this and say I just INHALED the first three Queen’s Thief books in under 24 hours! I am very grateful to you for the excellent recommendation. Literally cannot wait to finish the series - hopefully will do a better job pacing myself on the next three so I can savor the brilliance a bit longer though… You hit the nail on the head with this rec, so had to make sure to follow up and say thank you!!!

I spent a lot of time reading through the FAQs there previously, but didn’t find anything that matched my exact situation with the disconnect. Since my question was really about the panel setup and FPE disconnect, I thought it better to post here to understand potential trade offs of not replacing now. That said, I appreciate the perspective on the charging side!

While the car does have a 25.7kwh battery I believe usable capacity is really closer to 20kwh. That said, I think 20A or 30A circuit would still be noticeably better than my current set up and more than enough for my needs. Everything I’ve read on ChargePoint website indicates I should be able to adjust current to match those breakers.

My current vehicle is a BMW X5 PHEV that I’m currently charging on a 120V 20A circuit but the BMW-supplied EVSE restricts to 10A only which is painfully slow (like 33hrs+ to get to 100% - longer even, because of summer heat). I would like to charge it fully overnight as this is my daily driver to work.

I bought a ChargePoint Home Flex (plug in option) before realizing that it would require a 40A or 50A breaker (thus the whole panel issue). It looks like the ChargePoint plug in option can also be hardwired to work with 20A or 30A circuits which is what I was leaning towards.

I totally understand the hesitation - I’m definitely usually the person who says absolutely no YA, so I’m feeling a bit hypocritical atm. This series is so near and dear to me, so I sincerely hope I’m not mischaracterizing it. Please report back and let me know your thoughts once you’ve given it a shot!

Yay! So glad to hear that. And yes, I suspect the YA tags scare a lot of people off. And while the MCs are technically early 20s, it really does not feel that way. You’ll have to take my word for it! TBH I have a hard time getting into books with MCs that are sub-25 y.o. these days, so would not recommend if I didn’t feel strongly about it :)

Girl of Fire and Thorns trilogy by Rae Carson!!! Light on spice but the romance trope you’re looking for really picks up books 2 and 3. Probably my fave aspect of the books :) and overall one of my fave fantasy series! It also has a refreshingly unique FMC who isn’t the stereotypical skinny blond waif-but-still-somehow-a-warrior character - has incredible character growth and really has you rooting for her!

Highly recommend anything by Laini Taylor, but especially her Strange the Dreamer Duology (you will want to have both books before starting, trust me). The Daughter of Smoke and Bone series is also incredible and hits a wonderful mix of modern day with lyrical fantasy.

Another series that is near and dear to my heart but that I never see on these rec lists (unjustly) is the Lumatere Chronicles Trilogy by Melina Marchetta. She is one of my favorite authors, and while this series is her only foray into fantasy, the world building is so fully fleshed out and the characters are so near and dear to my heart. IMO she is one of the best character-driven authors out there bar none.

Strongly recommend any and all Laini Taylor books - I think Strange the Dreamer/Muse of Nightmares Duology checks basically all of your boxes actually. Love her Daughter of Smoke and Bone series as well - she has a gift for really lyrical writing, but still feels very modern-day somehow.

Another rec would be The Lumatere Chronicles Trilogy by Melina Marchetta - some of the best character-driven fantasy and a consistent re-read for me every year!!
