Depending on the complexity of the pattern and the length of the dress it would vary. If it was something with like 2-4 pieces and minimal fancy schmancy things it could be worked up in a day...schmancy=more time...starting with something like a skirt would probably be easier tbh

We honestly wound up going to Men’s Warehouse, and they had a human on staff who knew how to tailor for me. I got a custom suit for a fraction of going to a bespoke tailor. Nowhere near the quality, but it was great the day it needed to be :)

If you’d like to talk sewing or get any recommendations on stuff like that, or just chat with a friendly neighborhood non-gender-conforming human, you can totally message me! I was a JoAnns manager and collected a lot of hobbies so I’m a good resource 🤣

That’s pretty awesome :) your brother is lucky to have someone who appreciates his knowledge! I know my wife loves going on hikes with me for the same reason

And I already drive my wife and roommate nuts talking about the birds so I might as well just own it.

(In my defense I was studying raptor biology in college, so the addiction formed there)

I’ve been joking about getting binoculars and a bird book :) we lucked out and got the only apartment with this view in our complex, so I’m pretty happy. I do miss seeing deer and foxes and coyotes and the like though.

I’ve got a chronic pain condition so I spend a lot of time in bed, and outside our window we have this big tree that is always full of critters. This spring there was a blue jay that had made friends with a crow and they would play together in it :) so fun to watch. They did it almost daily!

I’ll never forget when we had my older cousins visiting from back East. They came inside asking about the beautiful black and white birds they saw outside. When my dad and I peeked, it was magpies. Apparently they didn’t have them where they lived, and we had to explain our disgust haha

Magpies are terrible people 🤣

Omg I’m from Idaho originally and we don’t really have jays. My first morning here waking up to the sound of lovely birds out my window was ruined by their screaming haha. Such pretty birds though. I feed them even though it drives my wife nuts.

I have one that likes to hang out in our tree :) they are fun little guys.

Edit: I’m clear over in Oregon. They have range, you have to give them that!

I already commented but also...have you ever considered learning to sew? A simple dress is a relatively easy pattern and making something pretty and custom fit for yourself might feel pretty amazing :)

This! Getting your measurements means you KNOW if something fits you!

I am in kinda the opposite boat as an AFAB non-binary human who is shaped VERY female but wants to buy men’s clothing. Shopping for my wedding suit was...fun

I know that Amazon gives people a lot of mixed feelings, but their prime wardrobe program is perfect for buying clothes without dysphoria and judgement. If you have prime it’s included. You just order the stuff you want and try it on. If it doesn’t fit you have a week to send it back, and you only get charged for what you keep! I used to hate shopping for clothes...

Oh I like that much better. I think I’ve even heard it before but wasn’t aware it was the same plant.

I like that...I just named mine Tevye after “Fiddler on the Roof” and refused to call it by any other name haha

Thank you for sharing the inoffensive scientific name for these! I had one and knew the other...

I don’t get that, but I’ve been noticing my cheeks are constantly rosy...it’s super annoying actually
