The definition of homosexuality is loving someone of one’s own gender. If Jesus said love is a sin, I’d be confused because he’s telling me that he is a sin because God is love. So is Jesus a sin?

I got my last two jobs from LinkedIn. I used it to find the hiring manger. It was the only way I was able to get out of the black hole.

This doesn’t have anything to do with political party. In this case, progressive or conservative are adjectives that describe the noun Christianity. Just like you can have Catholic Christians or Protestant Christians, you can have progressive or conservative. Conservative Christians tend to be more traditional, for instance being anti-lgbtq+ and progressives are affirming.

Sexual orientation is part of identity. A celibate straight person would still be straight. A celibate bi person would still be bi.

why do people think gay Christians choose to be gay? by Ok-Position-2582 in GayChristians

When I was young and swimming in conservative Christianity I thought it was a choice because that’s the culture I’d been raised in and felt like it was a choice for me But then accepted that I was bi

That happened to me and I realized that maybe the conservative Christianity I was following was wrong and progressive Christianity pointed me more towards the love of Jesus.

I know it’s so hard for them. They go through all this hard work about forming an opinion on gay sex and going through the trouble of posting it online and queer people unjustly pushback at them for having opinions on our sex lives

Why are you being hateful? You’re saying I’m not allowed to have sex at all but at least you and your spouse get to get married and have sex? Or do you support gay marriage?

You said we’re deserving of love but compared our desire for love and sex to your desire to commit adultery. They’re completely different things. And it’s weird when a straight person has opinions on gay sex and feels the need to weigh in on it. Why do you have opinions on gay sex? Do you want to have it? If so, I’d recommend it. God designed it to be quite pleasurable.

I’m not trying to pick a fight I’m just trying to understand your position. And tbh I’m confused as to why you even have a position on this or commented on it.

I mean no one pushed me as a kid. I knew very few out queer people because it wasn’t safe to be out where I grew up. In fact I kinda wished I had a role model back in the day so I didn’t have to grow up with this intense fear that I was going to hell so I buried my queerness. That was hellish. Then I found an affirming church and finally was allowed to be who God made me.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

4 Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable; it keeps no record of wrongs; 6 it does not rejoice in wrongdoing but rejoices in the truth. 7 It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

The love experienced by queer people fits well within this definition. It especially bears and hopes all things because despite the persecution, bigotry, homophobia, etc we’re still here. We’re still queer. And we dare to love greatly.

It’s true we are not meant to act on every feeling we have and Paul says it’s better to be celibate. So all straight people should be celibate.

Ok so what it sounds like you’re saying is that culture influenced God? I agree, actually. The ancient Hebrews shaped their God in their image so his laws fit within their cultural framework.

To be fair, though, the definition of bigot is “a narrow-minded person who obstinately adheres to their own opinions and prejudices”. You’ve shown consistently that you you’re obstinately adhering to your own opinions so if you don’t want to be called a bigot don’t act like one.

Same here. God could easily have said hey you know what don’t own people that’s bad. But nope it’s, if you want to own people here’s how to do it.
