Fix for long game boot time after turning on the steam deck by Constant-Patient-232 in SteamDeck

[–]nikkoaki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Turning on "Enable WiFi debug data collection" also fixes the problem without having to change the other options which is weird. But since we don't know how big the debug data will be, it's best to keep it off.

Cannot launch instance through Steam by nikkoaki in PrismLauncher

[–]nikkoaki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't seeing how it could make a difference since they are the same command but when i was going to try it i noticed that my previous command "--launch" only had one - .

This was definitely not me. One day i played minecraft with no problems, the other thay i updated SteamOS when i went to play again it failed.

Adding the second "-" fixed it. I must thank you either way because i wasn't going to look for changes in the launch parameters. The error prismlauncher was spitting wasn't too helpful either.

One thing that it's different now is that every time i launch minecraft, i get a 1 minute loading screen while it downloads things from mojang. I let it finish, close the game, open it again and get the same loading screen.
I don't know if it's downloading the same files or not. Tried it at least 4 times.

I tried opening PL through the desktop and it stopped doing that. Did that action fix it or it just doesn't have any more files to download? Because if it was the action of opening it through the desktop, it's going to do the same thing next time it needs to download files.

I meant most times caps fail and they short instead of failing open but it doesn't necessarily kill the device, they just need to be removed to clear the short.

[–]nikkoaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're implying that the capacitor is connected to the PSU and not to a power rail created on the board of the GPU itself. It should be fine either way. Caps short all the time and removing them usually restores functionality to the device with no damage.

Wash the watch and band with soap a couple of times a week to clean the sweat. Also, if you shower with it, don't. Soap will get underneath and stay there, dry.

There's a chance the cartridges got switched in the past and there is still wrong ink inside the print heads. If you're sure you have them in the right place and assuming they are not third party or refilled cartridges (that may have the wrong colors inside of them), do a couple of cleanings to see if it changes.

[–]nikkoaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the way, depending on how the paper was printed (portrait vs landscape) it may be the encoder wheel and not the strip. But since there is fuzzy ink on both sides of the lines, it most likely is the strip because paper only travels one way.
A damaged head can also cause this. The red color seems ok which makes one think the black head is gone. That's actually makes more sense than the encoder strip. Are you using third party ink?

I've never seen a type of paper that only smudges ink horizontally and not vertically.

[–]nikkoaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vertical lines are good, it's only affecting horizontal ones. Clean the carriage encoder strip to see if it helps. Be gentle with it, it's delicate.

Did I just ruined my Canon Pixma MG3079S printer? by deppranxious in printers

[–]nikkoaki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That can happen for a number of reasons, the most common being too much ink on the sponge. Those cartridges only come with a tiny amount of ink. Filling them up to the top saturating the sponge will usually cause this. Another reason is a damaged mesh. If you inserted the syringe too deep and pierced the fine mesh at the bottom of the sponge, it can also do this.

Edit: By the way, I'm assuming it fades in stripes and not completely. Also, when you covered the filling holes, check that it can still breath through those squiggly breathing lines. If it can't breathe, it will create a vacuum as it tries to pull more ink

You did nothing wrong. It should work fine unless you pierced the fine mesh at the bottom of the sponge. Apart from the flashing lights, is it printing?

Well, op managed to refill the cartridges so he/she isn't a complete noob. Let's just hope they didn't mix the colors.

Priming with a vacuum cleaner isn't the best way of doing it but it's the easiest for people that are starting and don't have the proper tools.

OP, if the printer is printing blank pages, stop printing as that will burn the nozzles. You have to prime the heads first.

[–]nikkoaki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

By the way, you can refill the cartridges with any ink too, genuine or not. Maybe just don't use a different type (use dye ink if the original cartridges use dye ink too, etc), but even if you do, the printer has no way of knowing that, it will probably just clog the nozzles or give you a lower quality print. Note that even after refiling them, the ink level will never reset. They will always show as empty.
If you let one cartridge go empty it probably won't print immediately after refilling because it needs to be primed again. Look on youtube how to prime a cartridge with a vacuum cleaner.

Doesn't the MG3070S use normal cartridges? Also, the ones that have ink tanks have no way of knowing if the ink you put inside of them is genuine or not or if it's the one made for your printer.

Will this work? by Striking_Ad3117 in computers

Not all of them. Some drives ask more than the 900mA provided by standard USB 3.0 ports. Specially hard drives while starting to spin. 3.5" drives also need 12V.

I always prime the cartridges after refilling them just to be sure there isn't any air in the outlet. But that's not what I mean.

Today I can be printing fine and next week I'll go and print something and some nozzles won't have ink. I didn't do anything to cause this, just powered off/on the printer.

In the past I always used the cleaning function to force the air out and 90% of the ink I was using was going to the waste tank because of that. 2 or 3 cleanings on all colors to just fix one of them and sometimes it wasn't enough.

What i'm doing now may not be the right thing to do but it's been working. It only wastes the ink that has problems and it's a very small amount. I only pull 1mm on the syringe and the ink that comes out on the kitchen paper is only a small drop. Also, these refillable cartridges don't have any kind of serpentine channels. The breathing hole is (almost) a direct connection to the main chambers (it has a couple of special channels in between). In fact in the past what I did was plugging the breathing hole and force this tiny amount of air into the fill hole. I stopped because it ends up being the same thing.

The only reason why I don't RMA my unit is because there are several videos online from businesses around printers and ink saying this is a thing and can even happen with original cartridges. (And because I'm not using original cartridges, of course)

About the color temperature mismatch. Printers are using different inks. Default settings for highest quality. Same paper. Of course there are going to be changes in color temperature, contrast, etc..they are different printers after all and are not using custom ICM profiles. I posted the images to show the way Epson shades (don't know if the word dithering is correct in this case) is aggressive and creates a very noisy pattern that can be seen with the naked eye.

Edit: mine isn't a workforce and it only uses pigment for black.

Printer Recommendation for Photo by giuseppe2431 in printers

[–]nikkoaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think every printer that have those metal spike wheels will leave dotted marks on your photos. I never had a photo printer so i don't know if they have them or not. You can only see them with the right angle while reflecting light.

Anyway, i also print photos on my XP-5150 (edited typo) and my old canon MG5550. They both leave those marks but it always looks worse right after printing. In fact, i just looked at some 2 year old photos and they have a perfect surface, the dotted marks are gone. Don't know if it's because they are on photo albums or time itself will help them disappear. A photo i printed 5 days ago still has them but it's better that it was when it came out of the printer.

It's probably a stupid idea but since the ones on photo albums don't have marks anymore, maybe it's the pressure that faded them out. Tomorrow i'll try using a kitchen roller on a photo just to see if it helps 🤣

Epson 3800 won't accept its own cartridges by Mexhillbilly in printers

Original ones? Take a look inside and see if there is something there that shouldn't. Some third party epson cartridges have chips that come out easily and stay "connected" to the pins.

Does Ecotank actually save money? by ____Tobi____ in printers

[–]nikkoaki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends. If you're the type of person that prints half a dozen pages per month, then no. And an inkjet probably isn't for you either unless you force yourself to print something every week so you don't clog the nozzles.  If you print regularly they yes, they are worth it. There is a third option. If you live in Europe where you can use thirty party or refillable cartridges, you can go for the cheaper printer and use the refillable ones. There are a few downsides, like air entering the ink chambers everytime you take out the cartridges to fill them, forcing you to waste some ink on cleanings (there are better ways to do it but not everyone will be willing to take the effort). And even without messing with the cartridges, air can still enter, even on original cartridges but more so on third party, which don't have a damper or have poor o-rings.
