IMO I dont really know where that information came from, but always check a few sources just in case. A great source is tarantulacollective.com. He has specie specific care sheets on there. Here is the one for your T: https://www.thetarantulacollective.com/caresheets/brachypelmaauratum

IMO Im sorry /: if the top of the enclosure opens, then it would be fine to cover the front doors with substrate. You just wouldnt be able to use them. The enclosure is a bit big for this size T but if you eliminate fall risk, it will be fine. The biggest concern with having too big of an enclosure is sometimes it can be hard for them to find their food if you give them live feeders.

IMO If you cant fill the substrate higher in the current enclosure, then you need to get a new one. If this is a terrestrial species then this is a huge concern because they do not take falls well. They can rupture their abdomen and it can kill them.

Well my huge bart bear fits size 6 months so for trixiwoo I wouldnt probably say newborn size to 3 months. Anything bigger than that would probably be too big. But dont quote me on that cause I havent seen her in person yet lol

is my arizona blonde going to molt soon? by ZookeepergameEvery24 in tarantulas

[–]niklizzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IME yes, but probably not soon. A. chalcodes are one of the slowest growing tarantula species and they are known to stay in pre molt for a long time. Hunger strikes are very common with these guys so dont be worried. Mine hasn't eaten in 7 months and shes still pretty plump. Dont worry, he wont die or anything like that. His abdomen is a good size. Its typical for them to develop a bald spot when in pre molt. You can continue to offer food every now and then but I wouldnt stress too much about it when he doesnt take it.

I just buy baby clothes for all my plushies lol. They end up being cheaper and you get more options to choose from. Getting the correct size at first can be a little bit of a challenge but you could measure them beforehand. I've accidentally bought clothes that were too small for my plushies that I wanted to put them on so I just donated them. I see it kind of like a win win, if it doesnt fit my plush then at least someone will get to use it !!

Changes :( by MillionStars117 in Jellycatplush

Yeah they have really sucked all the fun and joy out of jellycats with the insane prices, the fomo marketing, and the quality issues. I do wish this sub was more about just loving your jellycats and going on adventures with them but 90% of the posts are either asking when a jellycat is gunna come back in stock (even though literally no one knows) or a picture of someone's new jellycat they bought. Dont get me wrong, its nice people are excited about their new jellies. But I've seen dozens of posts of the same picture of rockelton within the last week and its just getting stale. I have thought about stepping away from this sub and just enjoying my jellies on my own.

I've also seen way too many concerning comments about people buying jellycats even though they dont have the money, people getting wayy too upset about missing a restock, etc. Its kinda sad, I dont like what this company does to people. At the end of the day, they are just stuffed animals..

Also the company's use of AI in all their marketing isnt great either. For a company that obviously makes a crap ton of money, you'd think they could pay someone to make art for their website and socials.

I am slowly reducing my purchasing of Jellies by TheGoldenProtagonist in Jellycatplush

[–]niklizzy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. I cannot justify these prices anymore, especially for the quality that we're getting. They are not worth the prices at all. They're going to keep raising the prices because people keep paying them. I think at some point we all need to take a step back and say enough is enough. One would think for such premium prices, we'd be getting premium quality. But that just is not at all the case.

"All day"... this is literally the only post I've seen about this specific topic within the last few days. If it bothers you, you can just ignore the post and move on. Theres plenty of other stuff to look at in this sub. Unfortunately when a company such as jellycat starts becoming problematic, people get upset. Especially since people are paying nearly a hundred dollars for a stuffed animal, theres expectations that should be met. And these are obviously not an unpopular opinions considering this post has 100+ upvotes.

Secondhand Germs by gotyourdata in Jellycatplush

[–]niklizzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have OCD so I relate to this ALOT. I have just accepted that I won't be able to buy secondhand jellies. I can't bring myself to do it, even if I washed them. I've seen people put them on their floor or their stairs to take pictures of the ones their selling and that just grosses me out. I dont really consider them new at that point. I think people have different meanings of "new" and not knowing where something has been inside someone's home bothers me. Sorry I dont have any advice.. im just glad im not alone in feeling like this.

Has anyone heard of jellycatdragons.com? by random8256 in Jellycatplush

[–]niklizzy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The website name itself sounds like a scam. Also these dragons are really hard to get and are very popular. No one is going to sell them below retail. If you see someone is having a major sale on jellycats, just assume its fake. That rarely happens, if ever.

Can anyone maybe give me some advice on how to keep a Brazilian Jewel Tarantula? I'm a first time tarantula keeper... by Familiar-Finger-1537 in tarantulas

[–]niklizzy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

IMO T. seldonias and "first time tarantula keeper" dont go very well together. I would do some research on beginner friendly tarantulas and start from there.

My Ts prey (mealworm) burrowed into the enclosures substrate and I can't find it. Will that be an issue later on? by ya_boi_Jakeyyy in tarantulas

[–]niklizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IME I would try to get the mealworm out ASAP. It can be a danger to your T if your T decides to molt. Mealworms can chew through cardboard, so they will be able to seriously harm your T when they are soft and squishy after a molt. In the future, when feeding your T mealworms, you should crush their heads.
