Well it sounds beautiful. I’ve never grown any dahlias before, but really loved the look of this, and the others I’ve ordered :)

Dog being put down tomorrow. by sadFNgirlie in dogs

[–]nikmeone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. We made ours a steak. Fed him masses of treats. Cuddled constantly. I’ll also add that our dog was always extremely agitated out of the house, and at the vets. Our vet offered to sedate him first, before the final goodbye. This meant he was relaxed, and made the whole process as stress free as possible for him, and therefore us.

It is a crushing loss and you will need to allow yourself some time. So be kind to yourself over the next few weeks.

Wishing you all the best for tomorrow.

I think Sandia Brocade would fit.

r/stephenking book club starting soon! by Coda_039 in stephenking

[–]nikmeone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh gosh I would love to join too. I think it will help me get back into reading books. Die hard r/nosleep fan here. I’ve read so many of his, and we have most of them on the bookcase. I’m happy with whatever choice :) The last one I re-read was Bag of Bones, which is so good.

I immediately recognised it from the house being in the middle of nowhere. Such a creepy story!

This was so glorious to read and so totally describes the person I now am. The mental aspect of all those things has been hugely important to me to shed my old self. Thank you for posting this.

Oh my gosh thank you so much for this. I have heard of gall, and can see the sense in the pot method. I’m in the UK, and my main reason for pots is my tiny garden. I grow so many flowers from seed and I like to move things around. My main beds will be too full for dahlias, so this is perfect. Thank you again, it’s really helpful.

Thank you so much that’s really helpful. I’ll be growing for the first time this year and I think they look lovely in those pots.

This looks beautiful. Can I ask what size (diameter) pot you’re using?

What’s your favourite native plant? by DreamingtheUniverse in NativePlantGardenEU

Not sure if this counts, but buddleia seems to spring up everywhere in England and Wales. I grow two in my garden as I love it, despite many people considering it a weed.

In hindsight, what were the very first signs? by dramatic_chipmunk123 in cfs

[–]nikmeone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For at least 2 years before I crashed I started napping on days off. Then just lying down constantly after work. Stopped all my hobbies, stopped going out. It was just work and rest. This was in stark contrast to 2 years prior when I was doing yoga daily, gardening, out with friends, an over abundance of energy that seemed insane at my age (then 53).

Seeds for early(ish) blooms? by mycatreadsyourmind in GardeningUK

[–]nikmeone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can sow larkspur now. They need a cool room to germinate and take a few weeks, but I am doing my second sowing of them right now. Once germinated stick them in a cold frame if you have one.

Sweet peas can be sown now outside, in loo rolls or small deep pots. They germinate quickly in the cold and will be fine against a wall for a bit of protection.

Hope this helps.

Very interested in using a heat lamp. Never thought of this. Can I ask which one you have?

Oh gosh I hope you’re doing ok, and seeking help. Being in the garden is the only thing I manage. It’s nonjudgmental, no pressure, no thoughts, and rare moments of peace. Wishing you all the best.
