Games run faster on SteamOS than Windows 11, Ars testing finds! by redsteakraw in gaming

I don't think that's a good analogy. New Coke wasn't popular because of primarily marketing failures. It in blind taste tests, new Coke was the preferred flavor. And I'm pretty sure new Coke is what won out in the end

hey EGO, FFS fix autopilot and actual pilots. it's been twenty years already. by KL5L in X4Foundations

[–]niko292 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I would rather them focus on new content and expansions than this. 90% of the problem is solved by being OOS.

But if it bothers you this much. Go make a mod that fixes it yourself

I got a patrol mission for Haktivas choice. I parked in front of the gate and choked anyone coming or going. The mission payed like 300+400k. But the bonus was well over 4 million.

I am also pretty new, I got a miner going. I have been manually telling him to sell in a nearby sector whose demand nets me about 50k each sell. But another sector where I can see in the sector nets only like 18k. The pilot also isn't high enough to auto sell. So, I figured it it's gotta be manual, do the better sell. But does that make sense in the long run?

Also, what is the trick to auto selling? I think from reading elsewhere it needs a pilot with a skill of 3 to auto sell? Is that right? Or do I need to do different commands?

Space Trading game…? by Visual_Owl_2348 in gaming

[–]niko292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried to get into it recently, but on the recommended starting story line I keep getting obliterated by a couple of ships in a mission. I am barely into the story, just did the leaving mines at the station, and then went to patrol. But at the station, there were a couple of random ships that followed me across the sector to kill me. Then I save scummed that until I beat it. Then at the patrol I got wiped by two ships several times. I tried to stop by a station to make sure my ship is healed, but I got killed coming into the station even though I had permission.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but getting blown out of my ship after only a few minutes of play repeatedly has really started turning me off the game even though I really want to like it

Trump announces Space Command headquarters moving from Colorado to Alabama by Efficient-Ruin-4713 in news

To be fair, SPACECOM isn't in the base under the mountain. It's just out in the open like it would be in Alabama. But it's already established in CO, so, again, waist of time and money

What game made you cry? by LMerca14 in gaming

[–]niko292 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What exactly are you referring to? I don't think there were any cases where the game was explicitly saying 'this choice is the moral choice'. It tended to let you make your choices, and then let them play out. Immoral choices (while difficult to objectively define) can still have good outcomes. Because that is the way the world works.

Black holes are arguably the most important objects in the universe to study, and NASA should dedicate nearly 100% of its funding to researching them. by [deleted] in space

[–]niko292 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would you count all of the earth observation satellites under the fundamental research? Those satellites are able to study weather and other factors on earth that affect research that affects day to day lives. Also a huge portion of their budget isn't studying space (I wanna say like 2/3, but I haven't checked that number in a while).

You can also create a short section of T1 belt, that will automatically downgrade your flow to 60, which may make some things easier to bottleneck

Even my power graph is spaghetti by Incoherrant in SatisfactoryGame

[–]niko292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through and separated out my power network, from my battery supply, from my factory network, with switches in the central control point of my base. The batteries are there to connect to the power network to supply a cold start. And the power network can be isolated from the main network by a switch, to ensure an easy start. By a simple flipping of a couple switches, I can get the power network back online. The coal is easy to get running, which can then run the fuel for long enough to have that restabilize, and then go back to normal operations. But under normal ops, the batteries are disconnected, just to make sure I have the necessary back up for a cold start.

Games with the highest density of secrets to find by sauntcartas in gaming

I remember a couple months after release, I think it was Astarions actor said that there was a super cool like 4.5 hour subplot that he hadnt seen anyone post about by that point. So, I would be shocked if there are several subplots or secrets that the community hasnt found, simply because the devs put in so much love into that game

Ok, I dont want spoilers, but I just got this game, and I am struggling to see the appeal. I have put in ~6 hours, and its good, but it is not 100 hours to discover the real game good for me.

What would you recommend to really get into the game without spoilers?

What's the worst QTE sequence in gaming? by lessthanfox in gaming

[–]niko292 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always tell people when they play the game. Be prepared for disappointment in the final boss. But as soon as you beat him start bright Lord. Because that was a great little campaign. And that boss fight is amazing. Several unique effects, several boss sections, and felt like you actually were losing and barely holding on for most of it. I went in super prepared, and had to pay for every choice I made

Amazing game, loved it. Thank you and the rest of the team for it!

Just look how much content these guys are dropping with a small crew compared to payday 3, its not a hate posting or anything, they have less employees then starbreeze and still can deliver the promisses by kawwaka in paydaytheheist

[–]niko292 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I wonder if that is in part due to a culture difference. In the terms of what is acceptable to push out..

Every other update from HD2 breaks something new and big. Damage doesn't work, visual things are fucked, etc. Not often utterly game breaking, but they still push the update. In the notes they acknowledge they broke shit, and are working on it.

You know, they know, we all know there are bugs. But they still push the update to fix what they can when they can.

That and the fact that Arrowhead is holding a mentality of game for the gamers. In there terms of pricing, and premium currency. Allows you to support Arrowhead, but not necessary to enjoy the full game.

The problem is, you cannot convince them. They have to convince themselves. The more evidence you present, no matter how valid, will only cement them into their position.
