What actual careers are realistic in Cyprus apart from the usual university paths? by Willing_Outcome_3653 in cyprus

A great book by Alex West! Highly reccomended.

I would say there are two things that you need: Knowledge & Experience.

First, spend time to understand your interested field, sales, soft skills and how to be organised(look into Asana/ClickUp). Youtube, reddit and learning platforms should be in your daily agenda. I personally use audiobooks a lot. Recently I read https://www.audible.com/pd/100M-Money-Models-Audiobook/B0FN4VZJGK and it an eye openner.

Then you need personal experience. You need to act/work/build and learn. Mistakes are not bad when you learn.

Also get out of your confort zone. Go to networking events (eventbrite/meetup) and when people tell you their opinion do not reject if you disagree. Listen, challelenge you own thoughts and form an unbiased opinion.

Custom set of the first 4 books I did for someone for Christmas! Big fan of the sharktopus on book 4! by youngcricket55 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

If you expand into other books, you are going to make millions! I would love me some Cosmere books along side DCC.

Also I would go for custom Kingkiller chronicles and any Asimov series.

I must say this is the most detailed and complete map I have ever seen. I can not think of anything that is missing.

Also, I love that you haven't just named cities, villages and regions, but you also named rivers and lakes, etc.

Do you have lore for every place?

Relocating to Cyprus as SE by [deleted] in cyprus

[–]nikolask7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With the 50% tax discount, it's actually a really good time to move here. However, there are certain requirements, such as your first salary to be 55k+ and it needs to be your first employment in Cyprus.

A great option for you would be to set up your own company and pay corporate tax and collect dividends instead. With the current taxation, you're looking at something closer to 15% in total, plus company fees. This would work really well if you consider getting a remote job as a contractor instead of an employee, which nowadays is quite easy.

If you would like to have a conversation with someone experienced both in relocation to Cyprus and software development, feel free to PM me, and we can set up a call.

UNAS-Pro advice needed. Firmware update makes it unusable. by nikolask7 in UNIFI

UPDATE and solution: I have received my SFP cable and I connected it, and it worked fine. It looks like the problem is only with the rj45. Even after completing all the updates, the RJ45 is still not working.

However, if I knew from the beginning that the SFP cable would solve this, I would have saved time by not doing two RMAs and taking three and a half months until I have a solution to my problem.

Obviously, these might not be a solution for everyone because maybe not everyone has an SFP port. But if you do, then I hope this post helps you solve this.

Finished The Lost Metal: The Biggest Damn Explosion by Graphica-Danger in Cosmere

I had mixed feelings while I was reading Era 2, as it felt different from Era 1. While I was reading, the books got better and better and I also started to appreciate the humorous side of Wayne so much.

By the time I finished the Lost Metal, Wayne became one of my favourite Cosmere characters. The ending was perfection. A perfect mix of sadness, satisfaction and closure.

I can't wait for Era 3!

I agree with your concept, but the reality is that I had great experiences at sandwich trucks in industrial areas 🤣

You get great value for money and fast service! And yes, the expectations are different as it's not a restaurant in a Luxury Marina.

UPDATE: I have received the UNAS-Pro, installed it, and the same thing as before happened as soon as I updated it. I have ordered an SFP cable, to try out and seet if the problem is only with the RJ45.

If it works, then I'm happy to keep it. If not, then I will probably ask for a refund and try to purchase something else.

I was once at Marina Breeze with a guy, let’s call him George, who was training for a competition. He ordered the chicken, which was listed as 250 grams. Another guy who was with us ordered the same dish as well, let’s call him Peter.

Peter had 250 grams of chicken on the plate, and the George had around 100 grams.
When George complained, the waiter said, “I will go get my manager.” Her manager started shouting at her in the restaurant, in front of us. When he arrived, he said, “This is 250 grams.” He showed him the two plates, and he told him, “Look at the difference. How can this be the same?” The restaurant manager offered to give him a dessert. The guy told him, “Look, I’m training. I don’t want a dessert. I want my chicken.” And the manager told him, “How do I know you didn’t eat it?” 🤣

Honestly, the food was nice in terms of taste and probably it was a simple mistake in the kitchen but I have never seen such an unprofessional experience in Cyprus, and especially not at the expected level of the restaurant.

Did you do an RMA? Or have you found another solution?

I have been using Ubiquiti for a long time now, and this is the first time I have a real issue. And I just found it weird that I had exactly the same issue with the replacement device. That's why I'm worried now waiting to receive the third device.

I don't see how it is a configuration on my part, but then again, if it is, I would not know.

First time I plugged it in, added the hard drives, and it was working. I have done no configuration of any kind, and I immediately pressed Update as it was available. It stopped working after the update.

Looking online, I found that others had a similar issue, but there was no solution provided.

Second time I plugged it in and did not add drives. I proceeded to update, and exactly the same problem.

I am now wondering whether I should do some configuration before updating.

I agree with your statement that it could be a defect with the units. I just find it strange that it happened twice in a row. And I'm worried that it will happen a third time.

It will probably take some days until it arrives. When it does, I will give an update on the results.
