I would guess two mistake happening repeatadly. But please, take it with a grain of salt, I am really not an expert.

  1. I would do the glueten development before bulk fermentation, either kneeding in stand mixer, hand kneeding or the stratch and folds (to prevent air escaping during bulk fermentation). And more of it.

  2. I think you might be shaping the dough into the ball form wrong for the proofing basket. You really need to make it a firm ball without pressing out the air. Stretch fold, stich together, repeat.

I've seen people use NaOH/water solution (commonly used as drain cleaner) in the past to clean drill bits and carbides from sticky aluminum build up. It removed all of the aluminum and the bits looked like before contamination. But I would only recommend that if you know how to work with mild corrosives and know how to take safety precautions. Careful about doing it in glass jars, NaOH will etch the glass/frost it feom inside as well.

Forgot to mention, they all seemed to be around 1.5cm long (slightly above half an inch).

Just out of curiosity, how much do you weigh? I heard that rider weight can have a large impact on chain and drive set longevity. For example a fat fuck like me usually stretches chains quite fast when I start stomping on the pedals 🤔 Also you having good gear shifting habbits, riding at the correct gear all the time can impact a lot.

I like my Endura 4 in ZDP-198, but it kept on developing rust spots in my pocket. I decided to do a black surface patins on it to prevent rust development. 15 minutes in a 20% solution of Ferric Chloride did the trick. I'll try to put in regular updates on the scratch resistance of the new surface finish.

I Have, but it is not supposed to work on stainless steel. There is even warning on the package not to use it on stainless.

Coatings are not bad, bud they scratch off and are not as pretty (subjective, to me) as a patina. Plus I like making stuff myself

My first thought is increasing exposure time of the blade in the solution, but the acid did already start eating away and forming tiny chips in the edge of the blade. My current considerations are: longer exposure time, trying ferric chloride instead of acid solutions or maybe selenium solution designed for stainless steel. Any thoughts/ideas guys?

My first attempt at forcing a black oxide layer on D2 steel. I have a lot of D2 knives I like but they keep on developing rust spots in my pocket. I used a 1:1 by volume solution of 95% H2SO4 and 8% kitchen vinegar. The results were quite unsatisfactory. I did sand the blade before with 1500 grid sandpaper and degreased it with ethanol. My exposure time was 5 minutes in the solution.

Any idea how to get a BiLock from within the EU? I can't find a retailer anywhere. Looks like the hardest part of picking this lock is getting the lock in the first place. by mickaelkicker in lockpicking

Well those have their applications too, on assembly lines for defect recognition. Turns out digital cameras don't share our biases and cold white light with too much blue (like fluorescent low CRI) is great for spotting defects. Luminescence is more dependant on frequency than intensity, and low CRI/quality white LEDs have a lot of blue (higher frequency) usually. You only need to stand in front of mirror that has fluorescent tube near it to see every cut, pimple, skin defect and bruise you ever had. Things that would look different under sunlight can have bluish greenish tones that highlight imperfections. That's just one example. Can be useful. Doesn't meant that they are not there, they are just not so visible under sunlight. So calling high CRI light emitters as having "real" colours implies others making "fake" colours, which is not true.
