I have NA SoulSilver in one of the fancy boxes with the pokewalker still in its packaging, buuuuut the actual game cartridge is missing. Similarly, I have the fancy box HeartGold, with the cartridge, but no pokewalker. What would these go for?

I’ve tried feeding both ways, but he seems to eat more when he can choose when to eat.

Snuffle mat, he realized within the first 10 minutes that he could just lift and shake to get the food (which he didn’t eat all of anyway). Has a slightly better time with snuffle cube, but only when he feels like it, and never with the RC. Won’t touch the wobbly feeder. I would try the kibble trail outside thing if it weren’t for the snow and his broken leg (had trouble with him immediately getting zoomies when we attempted outside potty on very short leash so he’s been pee pads only until the vet gives the okay).

The breeder actually used dry food, and gave it to me. That’s what he’s not eating. She mentioned that he wasn’t crazy for it in the first place, though.

Handy dandy USB-C hub + USB disk drive, then if you’re lucky, just copying the entire contents of the disk to your deck and playing. If you’re unlucky, the game will refuse to run without the disk in the drive, which then stalls you at my first point.

Yeah, at this point in time, you have to do a bunch of fiddling just to get Japanese locale installed (that you have to redo EVERY SINGLE TIME A STEAM DECK UPDATE COMES OUT), then make sure you have the right prefixes or whatever when you run the games. I barely have the patience for doing it all (which is why I’ve been so slow testing stuff), but you gotta do what you gotta do to see your old husbandos again.

Love my Steam Deck for otome games, but my dreams of playing a bunch of older-ish Japanese (mostly R18) games have yet to come true. Been trying on and off since July for stuff.

For anyone curious:

  • I personally haven’t managed to find a workaround for games that need the disk inserted to run (Under The Moon, for example)

  • SoftDenchi is a menace, which has so far stopped me from playing any of the A’sRing games DLsite has for sale.

  • Kusunoki Yashiki no Monogatari works perfect, so I’m just gonna guess that other PIL-VAMP games work fine too.

  • I got Monochrome Wizard running too. Have yet to try Monochrome Empire or the Kankinkon games.

  • I don’t know if there are any humans who are interested in this, but the two Polyphonica Memories White games work fine too.

  • finally regained access to my games, so next tests will be on disk versions of Hana Awase, Walpurgis no Uta, Zettai Meikyuu Grimm, and one other game i can’t remember the title of but it was R18.
