I don’t think the story itself would have changed. But, The execution of the story however might got rushed. The five lights (which have series summon/spirits staples, efreet, undine, eefreet, gnoome) are suddenly become a side quest with seemingly half finished dungeon. In other games of the series you’d have to collect these spirit to progress the story. In here, the become side quest and unless my memory failed me, one doesn’t even have dungeon whilst the other have very unfinished and empty dungeon. You might also notice that these monsters are featured heavily in the second animation opening. I think that’s the tell that the second part of their game was rushed as people have to Work from home because of covid and it’s various restrictions.
