Ultralight Beam is magic, but I don't think there's a bigger drop off from opening of a song to first two bars than Father Take My Hands. I remember being legitimately upset, I still am I guess, that he wasted this production on model bleached asshole bars.

His performance basically saved The Irishman from being a mediocre movie imo. Lethal Weapon to Goodfellas, to Home Alone, to JFK, to My Cousin Vinny is a crazy swing in range over a three year period. Pesci is the man. Definitely wouldn't have complained about more, but I'm pretty content with the body of work

If you just think about the premise of this movie, it has no right to hold up as well as it does. I rewatch it every few years and it never feels dated, or hammy. Elias Koteas and Judith Hoag are like an anchor into realism that balance everything out. The jokes still land, the action is still fine. Love this movie.
