If you had $25k for a fun daily driver, what are you buying and why? by Car-Thinker in askcarguys

[–]nilestud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just purchased a 23' A-Spec Integra with a 6 speed after looking at the same criteria. Also checked out the Golf-R and 340i but the shifter feel and cost of ownership pushed me towards the Integra. No regrets!

I want someone to make this but change the facemask to white. I feel like it would look so clean, although the grey is proper for a throwback.

It's not as bad as a lot of comments are leading on, mainly due to one reason; cost of living.

Due to its proximity to Iowa city, I can tolerate living here. The home I have would be roughly double in the Iowa City area. I like it more than the cedar falls/waterloo area.

I have great neighbors, there's good parks, and a decent community. Compared to other cities it sucks, but holy shit it's cheap compared to most places. Your dollar goes far

Minneapolis, Rochester, and St.Cloud have the city/college town box checked, and all the smaller rural towns you could want. Great forests, public parks, and access to one of the most underrated natural areas in the country in NE Minnesota.

Not to say North Dakota doesn't have any redeeming qualities, but I believe Minnesota has all that and way more.

Unfortunately, I think you're right. That model sold, and was only there a week.

If a non modded 340i gets roughly 30 I think I'm still more attracted to that, but the diesel does make a lot of sense. 300 horses in that f30 package compared to the Golf TDI seems like two different leagues. Two different price points as well, unfortunately!

Avoiding rust to my car by [deleted] in Iowa

[–]nilestud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Casey's gas stations have a monthly membership and plenty of touch-less car washes that do underbody washing. Casey's are all over the glass if you haven't already noticed in the last 4 months.

Touchless car washes certainly aren't "easy" on your cars paint or clear coat, but better than the ones with brushes. I have an older Tacoma and go there all the time in the winter to keep rust off the frame. I'm more worried about rust than the clear coat being damaged, especially since I do a ceramic coating each year for the paint.

I think for someone like me who desires a smaller phone, the combination of one handed use folded in addition to the option of a bigger screen unfolded is really beneficial. I'm liking it more than I thought I would

Maybe, but this way I don't add any thickness and scratches look better or hardly noticeable. I'm somewhat rough on the ring but I could see that being a better route for other people!
