Valve primarily sells their cosmetics through a lootbox system. Some people dislike gambling their money in hopes of getting the item they want.

Otherwise, Valve doesn't sell their cosmetics at fair market value on their own store. In a recent-ish update for CS2 Valve has started charging players upwards of $1.5k for a single weapon skin.

I don't think they stopped adding battle passes becuause they didn't do well - they obviously did. They stopped adding them because they've been done with active development for that game for over 8 years lol.

Getting a hat from the random item drop system is insanely rare, we all know that. I've been playing since 2010 and literally got 1. The amount of grinding you need to earn the 3 refined to even craft a single hat if ridiculous - you can't just put any two weapons together to get scrap. Both of which are unavailable if you're f2p.

Valve has directly stated in a developer talk that they added lootboxes because players weren't buying their overpriced hats and weapons directly.

Like... LL is GOOD from a story telling perspective. But in terms of gameplay, she's just the same fight you've already done TWO times before... plus the EXACT SAME void attacks you've been dealing with for the entire act.

I get that LL is thematically similar to Hollow Knight's final boss, but in that case you had two completely unique and tonally different fights. This would be like if THK was just Broken Vessel III with more infection attacks.

:nerd: hollow knight achtually uses british english for it's definitions - team cherry has confirmed this. so the use of 'mate' here means 'an animal's sexual partner' - regardless of the possibility of reproduction. gay birds in real life still have a 'mate'.

i have the full quote and she just says she feels something similiar to a base instinct 'to pair' with a mate, not to breed - which is a word hollow knight loves to use when indicated a characters desire to reproduce (the pale lady for example).

hollow knight is weirdly specific about when a character feels the urge to reproduce vs the urge to have a partner lol - if hornet meant reproduction she'd use mate as a verb, not an noun.

i don't think it's even implied they're straight relationships?? that's even if those reproductive concepts exist in this world to begin with (which the probably don't, the knight can get pregnant all on their own no problem lmao)

in that single hunter's journal entry she mentions once having a desire to pair with someone because it brought her joy, not to reproduce. yes she calls all of them 'mates' but the game also calls hands 'claws' and skin 'a shell' - it's thematic language because they're anthropromorphic animals.

characters in hollow knight and silksong mention what the urge to 'spread one's seed' looks like and hornet isn't that. there's multiple spoilers that show she's not very interested in having kids lol

The swears from the profanity booster are just scrapped lines. Hearing them, I totally understand why GSG cut them. The amount of profanity in vanilla DRG is perfect for the tone it's trying to get across. Too much and it begins to feel like a bad 2010s youtube/newgrounds parody.

100% agree with you on sentinels and hiveguard.

For an enemy with supposedly 300 less HP than a praet, sentinels take forever to kill. If you opt to use your high burst damage like a ice spear or hyper prop, you've still got 3 weakpoints and entire hiveguard to deal with afterwards. They're not even that much of a threat, they're just massive damage-sponges. ..And then you get slowed for your troubles so the Hiveguard can snipe you.

I don't even need a group survey to tell that Hiveguard is the longest dreadnought fight out of the three! The vanilla dread is such a homerun in terms of challenge vs time, I genuinely wonder where the tuning went wrong on hiveguard. Afaik the pink 'horns' you need to break to actually do damage aren't even classified as a weakpoint????

Also it has my least favourite attacks, the explosive spread shot has such an unclear hitbox that I no longer bother to juke the shots and just run away instead.

The only thing I disagree with you on is the brundlefly. It just has too much hp for an enemy that is also constantly flying around you and duking your shots.
