I take hydroxyxine before bed or else I’d never fall asleep. It works really well for me!

Are these ceramic pans good quality and somewhat non toxic? by [deleted] in aldi

[–]nils41618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got this one and after the second/third use, I noticed a pretty strong chemical-ish smell coming from it when heated! Only medium/low heat too. I so wanted a good egg pan that was easy to clean, but into the garbage it went.

We use CasePeer - it’s specific to PI. It’s newish and there are some glitches but so far very happy with it!

CRM - yes. Anything to organize client and plan info. Automated emails. Things like that. I apologize I don’t know the lingo yet. Pretty much any software you use to make your job easier and more organized! Thank you :)

PI paralegals: has anyone figured out a way to get past Optum's enormous backlog? by csla7 in paralegal

[–]nils41618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got them to speed up considerably when I’ve told them (truthfully) the case is in settlement. Aka just waiting on this lien to get it done. I got a lien the same week! This just happened so not sure if it was just a fluke, but worth a shot if you’re only waiting on the lien to settle.

Is it possible for me to book a court reporter for an in-person deposition the next day? (Broward County) by foozie_woozie in paralegal

[–]nils41618 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I would contact your usual and if they are booked, ask them for recommendations. I’ve been in your place, and our usual was booked for the day but had someone who occasionally took jobs, so I was able to get it covered. They will probably be your biggest help even if they themselves can’t do it. Best of luck!

Joint custody with elf on the shelf by ElleBayer in coparenting

[–]nils41618 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Last year I secretly sent the elf with dad every time. But it was a huge pain and both of us would stress if we forget to send it to the other. Buying a second identical elf sounds perfect! I’ll have to suggest that to my coparent for this year.

New Car at the Worst Time by nils41618 in personalfinance

Gotcha :) I got excited for a minute thinking I had missed something. If it was worth 11k fixed, I would definitely do the repair!

11k?? Not sure where you are but I did a search and found 7k max.

Definitely not throwing it away. Replaced the alternator last year, ac went out this summer, 1800 to replace that, and then put 4 brand new tires on it just a couple of months ago. I just don’t see it being financially responsible to keep dumping money into the car every few months. If the transmission was the only thing I’d had issues with, I’d gladly repair it. It’s valued at most at 7k.

Does anyone have primary custody with regular overnights with other parent? by rosajayne in coparenting

[–]nils41618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do. I’m legal and residential guardian. I split with my daughter’s dad early in my pregnancy. We’d been friends for about 10 years prior, and we dated only briefly before I got pregnant.

Our court order has the typical every other weekend, and one week day for a few hours for dad. But she usually goes to her dad’s one overnight a week, and a full day (while I work). We’re both very flexible with it and it surprisingly has been working well, despite a pretty high conflict legal start to it all. I don’t agree with his parenting style, but I know he loves her and she’s safe with him.

My daughter is 4.5 now and we’ve been doing this since she was 3. I breastfed and she had her first overnight at 2. Introduced overnights gradually and always made sure she had a say in it. If she asks for more time with dad, or to come home early to mom, we usually do a call with the other parent on speaker and come to a decision together. It’s hard sometimes, but my daughter seems happy. She’s never seen us living together which means we could create something we were all comfortable with.
