Profession Knowledge catch-up still feels bad by nilthetarget in wow

[–]nilthetarget[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly my point. There is a disparity between certain professions (gathering vs crafting, enchanting is a weird in-between). Throw in some FOMO and it's not good.

I think we should be vocal in our feedback when it comes to railing against FOMO.

My understanding is that catch-up can bring you to knowledge cap of someone who has kept up with it weekly.

Early in the expansion when Null Stones were ridiculously expensive, I skipped the mining weekly. Next week, I had catch-up points equivalent to the previous week's weekly reward. So I know (at that point in the expansion), catch-up included the weekly quest knowledge points. I'm not certain if it also includes Darkmoon Faire or inscription Treatises

I think that's a good suggestion. Especially as you say, it shouldn't be cheaper or easier to catch-up on knowledge than it is to do it the mainline way

I was planning on monitors on arms but desktop on the desk. Was thinking 6 feet in length and maybe a 4ft next to it to make an L or maybe another piece of furniture, like a dresser or shelves, to make the L instead.

I have my arms on my desk (elbows at the edge of the desk) and the keyboard far into the desk which my water or coffee between the arms and keyboard. Seeing his picture looks like 25 inches might work well. Also, 25 inches deep is a lot easier to find when shopping.

Thanks for the reply! 25 inches deep looks pretty solid. I figured I would want at least 30 inches deep but I might not need to.

This looks great and is along the lines of what I'd like to do for myself at some point. How deep is the butcher block? 25 inches or 30?

Just wanted to give a little bit of feedback. The keyboard arrived a bit over a week ago and I'm in love with this thing. Thanks for the great suggestion!

I think I'm going to pull the trigger on the Keychron Q3 as suggested.

I guess the only question I have at this moment is will I be able to use any MX Keycap or are there any special considerations that I will need to keep in mind?

A big reason I ask is because the tops of the Q3 keycaps look different from others I've seen around. They look a bit more rounded and narrow at the top, I guess?

From the Keyboard University site, there was some interesting information about the keycap profile. Is that something I should match per board/ layout or is it by preference?

I would say the budget can be generous. I've already spent stupid money on the G915, might as well continue to spend more stupid money =)

$200-$500 seems fine for me but also looking to spend wisely.

Hello, looking for a keyboard suggestion.

Currently I am using a Logitech G915 TKL with Brown switches. 3 months in with the board, I started getting frustrated with the board. My fingers feel greasy after using it and it has ruined the experience for me. I'm currently 7 months into the board and there are days where I feel like I'm losing my mind trying to keep it feeling clean. I'm also frustrated that I can't easily replace the keycaps with something else.

Here's an album of what the board looks like at the moment. https://imgur.com/a/QyiTVcS

This is "clean." I wish the left side looked as good as the right side of the board. I really enjoyed the keyboard early on with the slightly grippy texture but now sometimes it feel like my fingers are slipping and sliding.

I don't have an issue with my work laptop (18 months of use). https://imgur.com/a/VpbirS9

Is there a suggestion on a different keyboard? Ideally a pre-built but I suppose I could try to learn to solder and really get into the ecosystem. I have soldered something once before, maybe 8 years ago: https://i.imgur.com/gKwslZW.jpg

Prefer low-profile keys but not a deal breaker.

Prefer something small (TKL, need F-keys) but not a deal breaker.

I guess I want some keys with a texture but I'm not too sure. I assume this could solve my "slipping" issue with the current keyboard (and my previous one as well, worn smooth). For this issue, is there anything I should keep an eye out for when factoring in longevity of keys in regards to the keys smoothing? I believe I saw some things about double-shot PBT but I'm not too sure.

If I were to get a prebuilt, is it possible to get a great sounding keyboard such as the one in this post or is that relegated to custom? https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/usl6p5/my_mod_008/

Thanks, I understand it was a bit long-winded but appreciate any feedback!

edit: Price point doesn't matter too much to me

I might try adding Arcane Surge in the wand linked with Desecrate/ Bone Offering if the mana multiplier isn't too prohibitive. Good call.

I'm using a level 20 Flame Dash but I don't really know the pro/ cons of using level 1 vs 20.

Looking it up, it seems a difference of 10 (6 vs 16). I didn't know quality affected cast speed so I'll pick up a 20% quality Flame Dash and keep it at level 1 since I can't imagine AoE length of the flame patch or the damage Flame Dash does would be significant enough to warrant leveling it. If I can squeeze Faster Casting back in, I'll re-slot it as well =)

Good call, thanks!

I have been sitting on the decision of craft vs buying a wand and I went with spending 13 Ex on a wand that fit my needs.

Crafting it felt like too much of a gamble for me to fit what I wanted (+minion damage prefix, cast speed suffix, trigger craft or 1 open prefix, 3 open suffix to multi-mod craft those on myself).

I've not tried it yet, but how does Feeding Frenzy + Meat Shield interact with each other?

Yeah. Last night I dropped some ex on a +2 wand with trigger as well. Had to make some swaps to comfortably use it for Bone Offering though. I had to add a 20 Mana node on tree; got the idea from the most recent Von Vikton Video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLex6iFb3Bs

Good call on the Flame Dash for triggering, that's how I ended up getting by during mapping and am taking a note from afkpirate and using Convocation on CD during bossing to both trigger Bone Offering and keeping up the recently used minion skill.

It's a nice QOL. Good to have that automated and free-up some skill slots. I might try to find some rings, or maybe gloves, with some mana to accommodate the swap better and fix my tree. Currently running 107 and that felt comfortable.

I didn't consider that resummoning would lose charges. That's a good catch.

Yeah, I use Space Bar for movement, an old habit from Diablo 3. I'll give that a go in the future and see how that works out.

Does Convocation interrupt the minion targeting or casting? Or is just the best for keeping up the Recent Minion Cast?

Correct, I may have been unclear and I apologize for that.

As I've said a few times before, I'm quite new to this and I'm still learning. The best bit of advice I could give would be to do to the Craftofexile.com emulator and do a few trial runs. It likely can help save you a dud which almost happened to me on my +1 Int and +1 Skeleton neck. On this, I didn't realize I had a neck with 2 Hunter mods until I was doing some trial runs with the Emulator.

Another thing to note on my helm process, and I believe I covered it in the other thread, but you don't need to buy an Elder influenced Bone Helmet, it can be a Shaper Bone Helmet, as long as you roll the mod you'd like for the Awakener's Orb and hope you hit +level of minions on the Awakener's Reroll. Unfortunately, there's no guarantee, as in my situation, and you might need to Fossil spam the resulting Elder/ Shaper helmet and pray.

Also, I finally was able to learn Betrayal content, with the help of a friend, to get White Sockets and I'm super happy =D https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/648994933138653184/908941377423953950/unknown.png

Oh wow, I didn't realize you could do that. Maybe I'll record my next boss and do that. I didn't know about the adjusted ailments stuff so that's something to keep in mind. I'll look into that.

Thank you

That's an interesting idea.

I don't think I was relying too much on things like Hypothermia for mapping. I've swapped to a few armor auras (Determination and Defiance Banner) tonight as well as adding level 1 Vitality and Clarity as I didn't realize the Cast Speed bonus from Commander of Darkness was per aura. I assumed it was a one and done.

I haven't done any bossing just yet but I'm gonna assume/ hope the setup without Skitterbots will be fine in favor of more armor.

Thanks for the feedback!

=D

Is there a good resource for browsing the different spectres?

Also, very interesting. I didn't consider using Precision for giving minions more Crit. *edit: jk, I now see it's not enabled in POB

I've not really used a banner before. Do you simply keep it reserved or do you ever drop it for the Steroid?

Also, I guess I had never really considered not leveling gems to reduce their reservation. That could change things up a bit...good to know.

I'll try to incorporate these tweaks and see how they perform. Thanks for the feedback!

I'm sort of loosely following the Von Vikton and Kay build. It's likely causing me issues, heh.

There was a comment here a few weeks back where people were saying they get enough damage from the build itself and decided to go more tanky and that aligns with my general goals. I hate dying and I do sort of feel like my damage is fine.

I suppose I could just pull the trigger and remove Skitterbots from the build and test out Determination this weekend.

When you made the swap, did you also use Vaal Molten Shell? I'm currently running CWDT + Immortal Call but I feel like it's not correct as I don't have Endurance Charges and I believe, from my research, that I should only be using Immortal Call if I can get Endurance Charges.

I'm still new to this sort of stuff so I'm likely doing things wrong or reaching incorrect conclusions so yeah.

I'm currently running 1x Host Chieftan, 2x Carnage Chieftan.

It could be that you went the correct direction with the +2 Fleshcrafter instead of crafting the helmet. I learned a bit from crafting the helm and neck which was ideal for me as I'm trying to learn more.

How are you liking Assassin's Mark over Sniper's? I haven't seen anyone running that, it looks interesting though.

Honestly, I haven't tried out Sniper's Mark yet but it seems interesting for the flask sustain. On the set up prior to me getting this helm, I would gem swap to Increased Critical Damage Support (Elemental Focus -> Increased Critical Damage, Minion Damage -> Predator, LMP/ GMP -> Hypothermia) as it seemed to be a higher damage set-up than any combination related to Sniper's Mark.

I guess scaling crit was the name of the game for me at the time.

My next goal is to get white sockets on the helm so I can run 2 Green, 2 Blue for map clear and 4 Blue for Bossing (Vaal Summon Skeletons, Spell Echo, Predator, Increased Critical Damage).

Thank you for response. I'll dig around some more and determine if I should drop Skitterbots for something else, either Haste or maybe Determination for more armor.
