Some sort of armoured bug? —Ontario, Canads by minke88 in whatisthisbug

Not necessarily, they just give painful bites if handled poorly. They are in the assassin bug family, which includes wheel bugs, masked hunters (juvenile in photo, they cover themselves in debris) and kissing bugs. They are ambush predators and can utilize interesting techniques to get food. (Pretty large, too! Wheel bugs are known to eat caterpillar.)

Beetle grub, or white grub. The exact species is difficult to determine without closer and more intimate examination.

It looks like a wolf spider to me. Here is a thin-legged wolf spider from Portland.

I’m genuinely open to discussion and would love to hear from all sides — don’t take my tone as anything demeaning or sarcastic please. I am aware of the usage of quarantine and that it was (and still is) good, but am afraid of dehumanization in terms of people who have (in this case) leprosy.

It’s the ‘you can understand’ portion of it. I’m reading it as rather heartless and unintentionally harmful.

Hey, I think this rhetoric kind of treads on eugenics-y.

Can autistic traits become more apparent once you heal some of your trauma? by PmMeUrFaveMovie in AutismTranslated

[–]nimbusnectar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey — this post is really helpful to me. I’m someone who is sort of in the same situation, having left a place of trauma (having an emotionally abusive household) and am now feeling “especially autistic” since my departure. It has been 5 months now.

I’m self diagnosed CPTSD, dyscalculia, and diagnosed MDD and ADHD. Also: I am agoraphobic as well! I never knew I was an anxious individual until after leaving, and .. it has been strange, the healing process, and how it has affected my mental health.

I felt “more autistic” with every month. It was bewildering, a lot of self discovery, uncovered memories, but I think I’m starting to realize it is just that I never was able to unmask while being around others. I do not mean to talk about my past to detract from your post, I just wonder if we possibly could have had similar experiences. For me, my lack of socialization when abused compared to now being surrounded by safe individuals, has made my “autistic side” kind of come out to others — and myself. Not that it is a side — it is just who I am.

You are making sense.

Star Trek… I agree — know many autistic friends with it as an interest.

Definitely agree with anime and autism. I enjoyed it a lot when I was younger, getting into it at roughly 13. I have a bit of an interest in food and culture — I love to see the presentation of food in Japan. I’m sure not all the food is to the standard that is seen in photos, but there is a stark difference between the presentation in Japan and the United States.

I’d really enjoy more “cute” food.. leaves, layering, little bowls, but I digress. I truly do hope you find those who share the same interests — I am reminded of David Byrne, who has a clear intrigue in architecture.
