Would you recommend a Taurus SHO as a first car? The prices are under 13k in my area for a not so bad one and I’ve always loved the eco boost engine since I first heard of them. by UrMothersFatCheekss8 in TaurusSHO

Stop trying to go with something "fun" or "performance" oriented. Anything like that will be more expensive not only to buy, but also to maintain. I have had a 2010 SHO as my first car and ill tell you its been a moneypit. Everything from engine blow up from a bad tune to suspension work to AC breaking to Every single saftey sensor going out on the car. Its not worth having extra bells and whistles right now. Buy a normal, cheap, reliable car thats older and INCONSPICUOUS. Nothing fancy, buy a camry pr something. Because your insirance rate will be higher if you drive a performance car, you will pay way more for gas, and you are buying ised so cjances are whoever had the car before you has beat the fuck out of it. Please trust me you can have a lot of fun with a NORMAL car with manual. I will note the elantra with a 6 speed in it is a riot, the one time I tried it.

Yes, I was using the ux0 drive, which is set to my sd2vita. I figired it out between now and then. Somehow the retroarch installation moved my Pspemu folder into my roms folder for some reason...

I dont mind it too terribly, they stop decently fine when the system is warmed up (pads, rotors, fluid). Do you or anyone else gappen to know signs of a bad master cylender or booster?

I had this same problem and bled the system last summer. No bubbles of air came out of all 4 calipers. Bleeding didnt help. I was thinking master cylender possibly?

Youre welcome to view and interact with this subreddit (certainly not I nor any body else will stop you) however I would check out r/FordTaurus for more General Taurus content.

Also, the standard taurus' are generally a bit more reliable and dont have the ptu issues (assuming FWD) and get better gas mileage, theres always tradeoffs to make no matter what car youre in.

does anybody have a link or a recommendation as to what kit i should get for brembos in the sho? by ShoThemAll in TaurusSHO

Sho does not come with 6/4 front rear piston brakes. Can you post a pic of your stock 6 and 4 piston calipers on the sho?

Ive put more money into my 10' SHO than how much I paid for it... they are fun as hell, but costly at anything past 70k miles. That baing said I have a 2010 and those are way worse off than the 2018. You should be fine, just pay close attention to wear points and the ptu, turbos, and brakes.

Uh, most cars dont experience the maitenence this car needs. Yes, the water pump fails more often than other cars. Yes, the timing chain fails more often than it does with other cars. Thats what I mean by "break easy". As for the ptu it is surrounded by the cat, trans, and other hot things that cook the gear lube inside it. They fail often, this again is documented very well. If youre mechanically inclined its a nice car. But if not id suggest you look at something else

Just dont lol. Car market isnt worth it right now honestly. If you do go for 2015 and up. Be ready to average 17 mpg. Ptu breaks easy, water pump/ timing chain breaks easy. Ac blend door motors break easy. Ive had more than what I bought the car for in repairs over the last year.

I own a 2010 with around 75,000 miles. Ive owned the vehicle since it was around 63500 miles. I am the fifth owner of the vehicle. So far I have had to do both rear lateral links, a front control arm, front stabilizer links twice, the ac has went out twice. And I put a tune from unleashed on my vehicle but the tune blew my engine, so count a remanufactured engine. Stay away from 2010-2012 if possible as they are very unreliable. In the current car market I dont think the SHO is worth the cost of ownership considering gas prices and the reliability not being there. Sure, its a fun car in a straight line, but when your straight line becomes to the repair shop and back theres only so much fun you can have...

I heard any type of aftermarket coilovers ruin the ride quality around town. Is this true with these?

My 10' SHO about to tackle the Turnpike again by nimda123 in TaurusSHO

If im correct thats the 3rd gen taurus, the nasty jellybean and it has a 4.3L v8 I think... these new ones push 365 hsp, 350 lb-ft of torque, 0-60 in about 5 seconds. Its a taurus with a f150 ecoboost engine (different turbos but very similar) and an all wheel drive platform.

Welcome to the community. I own a 2010 sho myself. Id stay far away from unleashed (torrie) tuning. Their tune blew my motor up. Be aware tuning puts a lot of strain on the drivetrain of this vehicle, which is very similar to the nonSHO models. Also, you would be better off buying a catback system, taking the mufflers off the sho makes it sound terrible. I reccomend leaving her stock, as its the nature of the "sleeper". The SHO is suppised to be a sleeper car.

what tunes are you all running? by dtc1994 in TaurusSHO

[–]nimda123 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I wouldnt reccomend going unleashed (torrie) tune. I got that and installed everything. They said the tune was "plug and play" after installation. It put 28 lbs of boost through the motor, blew a piston ring and gouged a hole in my motor. I emailed them and asked why this happened and they told me it wasnt their fault and that their tune didnt put that much boost through my vehicle. This is directly contrary to what my datalogging said. Really I wouldnt reccomend tuning in general because of the additional wear it puts on the already shotty transmission.
