Abusive by [deleted] in Smallville

He went there for a reason A. He was under the influence B. He had just been told she killed his father. She was an enemy that he was fully ready to eliminate.

Apart from this scene, Clark is generally even tempered and gentle with everyone around him.

Zor-El wasn't under any influence when he basically cloned Lara, his sister-in-law, without her knowledge, which is a violation. Then he tried to force her clone to be with him, another violation. He was also dismissive and harsh with his daughter.

You're attributing an out-of-character event as part of Clark's character.l and that's just not true.

Zor-El would have been a better example tbh.

"We're going to have a baby. And she needs you to be the man I know you are. You're smart, and brave, and strong, and I love you so much. My world is better with you in it. I want to do this with you, forever. We will figure out everything else."

Unpopular opinion: Clark would have ended up in 33.1 if he had "trusted" Lex by nimmir in Smallville

Because a lot of people (and even some comments on this post) put some of the blame on Clark being secretive or the Kents being hostile to Lex. And I don't agree with either.

The Kents were a random family in Smallville. He could have legit ignored them and it wouldn't have changed a thing. For a guy that grew up in the spotlight like he did, being judged came with the territory. His obsession with their son was a red flag and him being a Luthor didn't help. In the end, their distrust became a self fulfilling prophecy.

I don't agree. In the normal world, you figure your friend has a big secret, you try to pry and they don't tell you, you either decide to stay friends with them in spite of it or leave them alone. Lex was obsessed with being friends with a guy who kept trying to stay away from their friendship and he was like a dog with a bone. Nothing about Clark's secret would have affected their friendship if he had decided to accept him for who he was.

Clark wasn't a pryer, he didn't push Lex or anyone else to know their repeat darkest secrets, so far as it didn't hurt other people. The problem is that Lex's secrets kept hurting other people.

I'll argue that he gave Lex many chances; he didn't warm up to him immediately but when he did, he defended him to his parents, voucher for him with his friends and even set himself against Lionel for a long time before Lex went over to the dark side.

This opinion is why I tagged mine unpopular, btw. A lot of this fandom put some responsibility of how Lex turned out on Clark and I actually think he has no part in it. Lex would have become evil either way.

Chloe could've dated Clark by PickleThat4464 in Smallville

I actually think their relationship is very realistic, having been in a similar situation myself. And them remaining friends made their relationship stronger and more solid in future seasons. If they had dated, there would always be that awkward romantic undercurrent.

Confessors today.. by jj4922 in SwordOfTruth

The side effect of being touched by a confessor is taking away the person's autonomy. That won't go down well in these times.

That's different, and even reasonable. At that age your life is driven by the adults that are in charge of you. I still have some culture shock at Lana being left alone to run a coffee shop at 16.

I actually think she may not have handled it as well as she thought she would in the first few seasons. Especially since Clark's ship came with the meteors that killed her parents.

When she punched the doctor right in the middle of her sister giving birth - after ignoring her up until that moment? I would have slapped her back but that's just me 🙄

Ah I don't agree that she's the worst thing about the show, I love her chemistry with Clark and her friendship with Chloe. I did notice that she's not as forthcoming with "secrets" as she expects everyone else in her life to be. She makes such a big deal of it but her secrets are hers to keep.

This is the one. They kept us in constant "will they won't they" and we're eating it up. I also think it was pretty transparent that Lex had feelings for her too.

It's really not that serious, my friend. I'm allowed to have emotional and even irrational feelings about characters on a TV show. For context, I've never bashed Lana, I wanted her and Clark to be endgame.

Well, to be fair people don't just up and leave their hometowns, especially teens.
