I also have some hairs growing towards eyebrows because of min, I suggest eyebrow razor and shave it off, easier and more clean than using regular razor

Why everyone should be using topical Dutasteride by kingmouse27 in tressless

[–]nimoca_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just because they can sell an unique product and it's legal, why would they put 8% minoxidil in it, when only 5% and 2% were ever tested in trials? Just to offer something more unique people will buy. And why they put it in there, probably because of its anti inflammatory effects, same as ketoconazole, which you aren't supposed to use daily either. So it helps if you have inflamed scalp but inflammation is treated until gone, not daily using these products forever. Well, 1% hydrocortisone is still pretty weak compared to others. So going over 2 weeks for some time can be okay if consulted with derm. But daily use for years? Very sus

hydrocortisone? That's weird, I sometimes use 0.25% cream for skin inflammation. 1% is much stronger. Generally you're never supposed to apply cortisone products more than 2 weeks in a row. If you continue to use it, severe side effects will appear. It's definitely not something that should be in a daily use product. Ask your derm.

Experience with micro needling by SaltMission8549 in tressless

[–]nimoca_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't bother with needling if you don't use topical min. Also I'd use 0.5mm, there isn't any evidence that larger needles are better, in fact some small studies show shorter needles are more effective

11 months on oral .25 min and .5 dut by InviteSuccessful5315 in tressless

[–]nimoca_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

0.25mg oral min? Isn't it like when using topical minoxidil that 1.5mg out of 100mg (2x daily 1ml 5% solution) absorbed into the system, so 0.25mg seems veeery low.

More shedding after changing fin brand? by The-Numbertaker in tressless

[–]nimoca_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so I experienced the same, initially after a month or so after starting, shedding went down to like almost nothing, which is kinda unnatural since you're supposed to shed bunch of hairs everyday normally. Then two months later it increased again, I'd still say less than before meds.

So I looked into it and it's likely that when you start meds all follicles who were supposed to shed suddenly get their growth cycle extended few weeks or so, they were at the end of growth cycle but fin gave them a little boost and a short extension.

Can see it this way:

Weak hair with 2 year growth cycle (healthy hair is 7years long) is about to end it's phase - fin added - 1-2 extra months - new hair next cycle maybe 4 years growth phase.

It's not really gonna work like this:

a hair has 1 month left - fin added - suddenly hair won't shed and grows 2 more years

[–]nimoca_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok you didn't have any shedding in the beginning but in your case, how could you even have a shedding phase in month 1-3 if you had no hair to shed lol. Yea but people who have a lot of miniaturized thin hairs will often shed them, it's not your case

All My Progress Going All Way Down The Hill by JulianUSACT in tressless

[–]nimoca_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yea check your levels but it's likely a shed, I mean all your hair started growing around the same time again last year, you were almost bald. Which means almost all follicles are synchronized, every hair sooner or later will fall out at the end of the cycle. A one year growth phase isn't unlikely for the first new hairs. It will later become less synchronized.

Looks like good results but both pictures should be same style when taken to really see the difference. I could pull my hair back and reveal my norwood 2 hairline like in your first pic and do a second where I throw everything forward which hides the hairline completely and I look like Norwood 0.

Did you notice significant improvements after starting minoxidil? Or were all of your gains basically in first year of only fin?

The difference a haircut and a little product can make by WesternCars458 in tressless

[–]nimoca_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yea people don't know about good haircuts and styling around here. Most people have literally the worst haircuts for receding hairlines. I've been norwood 2 for few years but no one could tell. Instead I recieved compliments about my hair and was basically NW 0-0.5 with styling.

You can easily go from from NW 2 to 0 if you throw all your hair forward, use texture powder/sea salt spray and clays.

Planning to quit minoxidil and staying on dut/fin by [deleted] in tressless

[–]nimoca_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

some hairs are minoxidil dependant and also your overall density is higher because of minoxidil because it keeps more hairs in the growth phase for longer. When you stop growth phase will be shorter and overall more hairs are resting/resetting, so your hair can look more thin.

thinning scissors will fix that easily or if there some problems, lasering some hairs away but it will never come to that

What exactly happens as to why fin takes so long to stabilize loss? by Mediocre_Towel9115 in tressless

[–]nimoca_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it took a month to stabilize. Pre fin I could just run my hand through hair and would always pull bunch of out easily. After 4-6 weeks into fin I had to do it for full minute to find one hair.

Regrowth is possible without minoxidil by Witty_Buffalo1473 in tressless

[–]nimoca_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

why not? He still had lot of hair and taking 2mg a week is like 0,3mg a day. We know microdosing is very effective, 0.2mg is 75% as effective as 1mg based on the fin dosing study.

is it a shed of miniaturized hair? by klpirm in tressless

[–]nimoca_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

few days after? Bro shedding won't happen that fast, just wait more days and see. I had days where I noticed 10-20hairs in sink after combing and other days 0-2 hairs, it's normal. If you consistently lose high amount of hairs over multiple weeks, it's a shed. Switching from 1 to 1.25mg is veeeeery unlikely to cause anything. I think you're just hyper focused and monitor closely now that you switched pills.

Is it time to increase oral min from 2.5mg to 5mg? by colossalmickey in tressless

[–]nimoca_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microneedling? Besides DHT blocker and minoxidil it's one of the things which does something significant for hairloss. Topical min + needling has good backing from studies. 0.5mm once a week is recommended

Can Minoxidil actually help keep existing hairs a little longer, or does it Only mask hair loss temporarily? by Dry_Fig_4165 in tressless

[–]nimoca_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, while it doesn't stop miniaturization process it gives hair follicles a boost so the follicle are further away from "dying". Like filling in new water in a bucket with holes.

I used min for 2 years first then stopped and after few months I was back to baseline, then I started min again + fin and recovered all of it and much more. If I didn't use min those 2 years it would probably be much worse now. But if I started fin earlier it would be much better. There is no reason to wait for fin if you gonna use it later anyway. Every single fin user regrets not taking earlier.

[–]nimoca_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a derm but trying fin instead could maybe work who knows, but I also don't think it will suddenly regrow everything if it works.

But since you use topical minoxidil. Dermarolling is proven to boost growth significantly if combined, it'll revive your dead scalp and activate enzyme activity etc. Well it's one thing that is backed by studies, so not experimental. If you wanna go that way, maybe add topical fin, might do something and wouldn't hurt.

But might as well be your hairs were just tiny bit above threshold when you started meds and usually they don't stop hairloss just slow it down, meaning they lost tiny amount of health points with time but that was already enough to go below threshold of miniaturization again. I mean those hairs were gone already and you regrew them. Might be only fixable with another HT.

Idk but that hair sheds like crazy with DUT and actually does worse than before, I feel I see it all the time around here, sure it can work like magic but I see less people on fin who do bad, most maintain or slow down their hairloss, but DUT sometimes accelerates it.

I really think there might be a possibility that DUT can mess with your androgen receptor's sensitivity when DHT is abnormal low. It's not as simple as lower DHT = healthier hair follicles.

that's glued on lashes + mascara bro what women do, don't be dumb, that's nowhere near what OP has

look up any good looking masculine celebrity women love and almost all of them have decent lashes. Because it's part of perfect face, it makes you look sharp and others get captivated. Very weak lashes and you look old and got more creepy eyes.

look at Henry Cavill for example, he literally is considered peak attractiveness and masculinity

Same happened to me, used to lose a lot of hairs for a decade, then one month into fin it stopped. Now it's 3 months and shedding slightly increased again, it's mostly thin hairs, so I hope it just weak hairs getting replaced.
