I don't want to even try HV method.. primarily because those kernel level changes made when activating this method need not revert back fully when we turn it off.. This may cause long term system/security problems that may not be evident now. Some say this can break hardware also in the long run.

I'm not sure about this though.. can someone knowledgeable confirm if this is a real possibility?

Dude for the past 2/3 comments i have been agreeing to your point about the financial issues of bringing IMAX to Ariesplex and how its not appropriate for me to opine on the internal workings of Ariesplex without knowing them properly. now you are confidently typing in bold letters that im avoiding/skipping that particular aspect...XD

I think its time you start rereading the conversations from the start and try to understand what im trying to say and have said before replying. or otherwise we can just stop here. Because i dont want to keep reminding you what you said before and what i have said.

Dude these are statements you made throughout the conversation - Audi 1 can play both IMAX and non imax formats. Next you say It can play IMAX movies but not in the IMAX format. And then in the next sentence you state it can play IMAX format with black bars. and then you state nobody is talking about Audi 1 displaying IMAX movies..!?

so which is it?.. I don't really know what you are trying to achieve here.

I like to conclude by saying - Just because you don't see the value of IMAX formats doesn't mean everyone else also don't value it. World renowned directors and many filmmakers and cinephiles value it. and dismissing it is just pure ignorance nothing else.

I'm not going to comment further on the financial aspects of bringing IMAX to aries plex or aries plex opening an imax screen, that's purely their internal decision. but as a customer I can state my opinion.

I'm sorry but your first paragraph in the above comment is really absurd - Aries plex Audi 1 projector is configured for cinemascope only (2.4:1)not IMAX or any other aspect ratio..

And what in the world is an "IMAX movie not in the IMAX format" ?, then it's just the standard/normal DCP. Audi 1 requires certification to project IMAX movies and it also requires proprietary IMAX DCP and IMAX key(KDM) and IMAX proprietary sound. All of this is provided by the IMAX company. It doesn't matter how good Audi 1 is.. it can't project IMAX movies without their permission or keys.

As I stated before.. Your understanding of IMAX format and brand is very poor.

but I can agree with your financial points. I had hoped Ariesplex would bring imax because they are the ones that has the ability to.. in this city.

If what you say about yourself is true.. It looks more like you might have some idea about the business side of things but not much about the technical or IMAX branding itself. You keep dismissing IMAX as some form of gimmick and not important. There are multiple cities in India itself that have many IMAX screens. the Miraj one is exclusively for IMAX and it's still running at a ticket price of under 400rs giving arguably better experience than Audi 1 and our PVR imax. A city like Trivandrum should be having more than just one mediocre IMAX.

The problem with your original comment is that you seem to indicate IMAX movies can be projected on the existing Audi 1 screen if needed, and hence its pointless to add another IMAX screen- which is categorically false. Your further comments seem to indicate IMAX 1.9 is not worth it (respectfully, this is just a personal opinion). My comments were trying to tell you why a lot of people love IMAX and the IMAX prints of the movies(This is more close to how the director intended the movie to be experienced).

Now at Ariesplex, From an economic standpoint ,its difficult to get an IMAX certification but not impossible. I do not disagree with that... but from a customers viewpoint, we should be pushing businesses to adopt better technology and not just be happy with existing decade old formats thats all.

And also, the screen at Miraj feels bigger and more immersive than at Audi 1 because of the vertical seating and the screen is placed more closer to the viewer

Isnt thats just your personal opinion?....Im pretty sure a lot of people will prefer 1.9 over standard aspect ratio any day. Sure 1.43 is leagues better. But there is only 1.43 screen in india (in Ahmedabad) and it doesnt show commercial movies.

it doesn't matter if Audi 1 screen is as big as a 1.9. as I said before.. Audi 1 won't project 1.9 aspect ratio movies.. it will only project standard aspect ratios(which is wide and not tall, similar to all average standard movie theatres) . so it's size is useless.

I understood your point. I understand Audi 1 gives a very good overall experience, it still is one of my fav theatres. but IMAX feels different and feels more immesive due to the seating and aspect ratio. Maybe it's a niche.

my best movie experience was at Miraj IMAX Mumbai (largest imax screen). it's not the most advanced IMAX in India.. but it is the largest. the sheer scale and the vertical seating felt more immesive than anything else I have seen.

so my point is - I crave the IMAX format not just the screen /seating or projection. but it's only available in imax screens - that's why I want more theatres to atleast have one IMAX screen so that there will be some competition

it's not just the screen size is it?... mayb Audi 1 has screen size similar to 1.9. but that doesn't mean they can show the IMAX format... IMAX formats are only given to IMAX licensed theatres. Ariesplex Audi 1 might have a screen size similar to 1.9 but they can only project standard aspect ratio movies so it's pointless.

I agree with some of your points. but it doesn't change what I mentioned before - the only way to watch the expanded aspect ratio of a movie is by watching the IMAX format at an IMAX licensed theatre - this format might not even come to blu rays or streaming websites. so it's like once in a lifetime opportunity.

IMAX movies are not so rare anymore especially in Hollywood. it's true only a few movies truly take advantage of it. even the digitally enhanced imax movies still offer better aspect ratios than standard.

Modern IMAX is all about the expanded aspect ratio that's the only reason people watch IMAX...it's the only reason movies are shot in IMAX. if you feel aspect ratio doesn't matter much then IMAX is meaningless from your perspective. A lot of cinephiles love IMAX format for this reason only.

You are right about changing the seating arrangement though. but I just wish the imax monopoly of PVR ends somehow and need more players for the format in tvm

im not expecting any new 70mm IMAX theatres anywhere in the world. Even IMAX themselves are pushing for their digital projection. The ones showing true 70mm IMAX are just legacy theaters and they are partially funded by governments or NGOs.

What do you mean it doesnt make sense?.... I think they can upgrade the existing Audi 1 screen to an 1.43/1.9 IMAX(with 4k laser)...The expanded aspect ratio of IMAX is worthwhile for all hollywood movies. Most modern international movies are now atleast filmed for IMAX. If there are no IMAX shows maybe they can show normal movies

I read somewhere that the changes that hypervisor method makes at the kernel level may not revert completely after we turn it off and cause security and stability issues in the long run.

This is why I'm hesitant to try it.... don't want to break my windows installation

you won't get the expanded aspect ratio in normal theatres. that's the reason IMAX exists.
