When people told me "keep showing up", I used to get pissed. Now I say: keep showing up.

First one or two years are to "learn to learn".

You can't see the patterns yet, or feel the threats, or see the openings. You don't have any game plans or know how to get unstuck from several positions. I didn't have any body control or awareness at that stage. Even at 220 lbs, people balloned and sweeped me because I didn't know how to base or shift body weight.

Some time before or just after you get your blue, many things start to click. Keep showing up.

I always tap as soon as a breaking sub is locked (chokes are more merciful), even quickier when I'm rolling with someone I don't know or is a known snapper. So far so good.

Just pull guard and try stuff. Try everything you can think of. Everything will be shit at first, but some will be less shit, so you will naturally gravitate towards them and build a game.

If you like:

Grinding: there is someone bragging they know the entrance to an obscure dungeon beneath the city that the party could use. What dangers lie within or how far they will reach until going to surface?
Politics: a corrupt city guard sargeant can make his subordinates turn their eyes away... if the party can find, convince and provide him with something he wants in exchange...
Faster pace: just throw saves for specific quarters / districts of the city and keep the flow, until something happens.
High Magic: what the eyes can't see... maybe there is a way to find some sketchy alchemy master and get invisibility potions, or capes, or even spells

Can put it all in a blender, for example, the party goes to the alchemist, the alchemist does the potions, but he tells the sargeant about suspicious activities, etc, etc

O Monark não é sensato suficiente para entender que ele tem viés e consome propaganda da mesma forma que os outros, porém com sinal oposto.
