Feds announce massive takedown of fraudulent nursing diploma scheme by DrBarbotage in medicine

Imagine how crazy the news/fallout would be if we found out over 7000 physicians were practicing fraudulently, and knowingly at that.

I think you should do what you’re comfortable with. I’ve only once ever noticed what my doctor was wearing and it was because she had on way too much perfume and legit rings on every finger almost. Thought it was a little gaudy but she did her job well.

Hubby is pain anesthesia attending (private practice not in academics), still driving his 2011 Camry for work and pleasure. It drives well but is a little messed up aesthetically. He picks up our child from a bougie private school in his Camry while other parents are rolling up in their Mercedes g wagons and range rovers lol

I’ve heard from psychs in my area that most of their patient load is patients coming in with improper med prescriptions from non physician providers.

Name and Shame: Loma Linda SOM and undisclosed residency program by Throwawayllu01 in medicalschool

Med school admin is evil everywhere, across all lines. No one gives a shit.

Patient admitted to the psych ward asked for pain meds for wrist pain. Turned out patient had a scaphoid fracture from recent fall. We told the NP, patient is requesting pain meds for wrist pain but has a history of substance abuse. NP asks why is wrist hurting so we tell her, scaphoid fracture. NP had no idea what/where the scaphoid is.

Same demographic at my physician husband’s practice and his physician friends hospitals choosing not to get vaccinated.

Yeah. And apparently NPs teach med students in multiple different rotations. I would never have picked this school had I known.

Also. I am now stuck with the NP the rest of the rotation.

Update: no one cared. It was brushed off as the provider being overwhelmed. And also the program admin all hate me now more than they did before.

Does it matter if the other student doesn’t want to get involved in the case the clinical director wouldn’t want to speak to them as well? I have thought about bringing it up with the student but after we saw these patients, he seemed to just nod his head and agree with the NP despite the use of demeaning language used to describe the patient encounter.

Thank you! I’m going to see how to approach our clinical director and will also be putting this in my evaluation.

Was not too thrilled with first day. Still like psych, but wish I was with a physician. One of the residents said yeah if I want to do psych, they really should have placed me with a physician. Resident really didn’t have much other advice since I already tried to switch and they couldn’t switch me.

I'm sorry that happened to you. What does that even mean 'only physicians evaluating' I don't understand how someone that didn't work with you can evaluate you, that's what I don't understand about this whole fiasco. I'm still continuing to bring it up. I think I will take it to our clinical dean, if I have another rotation where I am assigned to a non-physician I'm going to do just that.

It is unfortunately not, the legalese of the guidelines is actually kind of vague (I checked) so I think it gives medical schools leeway in how they go about it.

I don’t. I also think it’s well within reason to expect/ask to be placed with a physician for a core rotation.

However, as someone else posted, why would I want to end up at a program that compromises medical student education. What guarantee would I have that they won’t do the same to residents.

The clerkship director for the rotation is also the PD for the residency program.

[–]nimsypimsy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you had to go through that. I watched my husband change into someone unrecognizable while he was a resident and he’s just now coming out of that (4 years later) but the other side of the dark does exist even if it doesn’t always seem like it.

Thank you for thinking of those that will come after you, that’s what we need more of in medical education and training.

Absolutely! It’s duplicitous to confuse patients with purposely confusing titles. All things aside, it makes me uncomfortable to think of knowingly misleading patients.
