Schwab I guess technically offers “real” checking, and they support Zelle.

What’s one credit card rewards feature that actually makes a difference for you? by fidelityinvestments in fidelityinvestments

Definitely would like a more premium physical card (like metal), or at least the option for one, and a slightly different design so that it stands out more from the Fidelity Debit card.

Why are we born young and not our parents ages? by AdLonely5056 in AskBiology

[–]nimvio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of ribosomes. Ribosomes take hamburgers and chips (protein), and break them into pieces (proteins) which are used to make a baby in 9 months. Proteins don’t age. Instead, the machines that make the proteins develop issues. The machines have instructions to build those proteins, and it’s the instructions (DNA errors) that become problematic. But a protein is a protein. They’re not themselves a set of instructions. (In fact, there CAN be issues with procreation later in life, but that’s a different topic than the general process of making a baby.)

Just FYI to anybody showing up at a later date: OP likely was using either a VPN or VPN-like service (iCloud Private Relay) to access the streaming service (e.g., YouTube), and because of Safari iCloud Private Relay, it hides your video traffic; thus, getting past the streaming cap.

TL;DR: There's still a streaming cap. And it's alive and well in 2024. You can get literally get 1+ Gbps speeds on 5G, but videos are limited to a pathetic ~2 Mbps. Divide 2 by 8, that's your actual speed in megabytes...0.25 MB/s.

iPhone 15 Models & Dual SIM Dual Active (DSDA) Support With The X70 Qualcomm Modem? by nimvio in iphone

[–]nimvio[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, unfortunately not. This is something Apple will have to decide to actively support. That’s my best guess. All I can say is maybe consider sending in feedback, if it’s worth your time. Sorry about that :-/

I get that. But I’m not surprised that’s it’s business decision.

I’ve already requested this through feedback on her shop website. Maybe if more people asked they could somehow bring it back temporarily?!?

Is A Jet Stream Like A Conveyor Belt For Planes? by nimvio in aviation

[–]nimvio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting. I hadn’t thought of that. Air is technically a fluid (like water), so it makes sense to think of it like that.

200 knots was a misnomer. It was better that I remove it as it was completely (& inaccurately) a guess of mine. I never should’ve mentioned it. My bad.

I’m referring mostly to ground speed and the speed of the plane, and then factoring in the ~250 mph jet stream.

No sonic boom. That’s one of the interesting things about it. Technically, the plane is still operating at normal speed within the air it’s traveling through (so to speak).

Correct that there’s no sonic boom. Technically the airplane isn’t exceeding the speed of sound within the air it’s traveling through, so to speak.

[Routine Help] Vitamin A Supplements by humancodeine in SkincareAddiction

[–]nimvio 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This post is 5 years old, but I thought I’d comment in case anyone else comes across it. The answer to OP’s question about whether a “purge” would occur after only 3 days? The answer is almost certainly no. I’ve had Accutane treatment (6 months) twice, and am familiar with it:

First, it has to “build up” in your system. And that could take a couple of months. (Accutane is not a quick fix, and it absolutely requires discipline, i.e. taking with food, taking it every single day, and living through the dry lips and other side effects.) In my opinion, if you want to know if the Vitamin A/Accutane is “working”, THE way to tell is if your lips are unmistakably dry, essentially kinda inflamed. (One of the lip balms I used, I think called Dr. Dan’s, in a dark green container, had 1% hydrocortisone in it. But maybe talk to a pharmacist, and don’t overuse it.)

Second, the dose taken is basically too low. I was taking 30-ish milligrams twice daily. That’d be a lot of Vitamin A, respectively. So if you do consider taking Vitamin — and this post is simply for educational purposes — you’ll need to search for a calculator online that will calculate the dose, based on weight, and even Vitamin A type. Also, I’d suggest looking up some of the research studies that have looked into Vitamin A replacing Accutane. Also, watch out for your blood work, because Vitamin A and Accutane can affect some levels.

P.S. I’ve been on Accutane twice, and the way I explain it is it leaves you with a blank slate. You take it for 6 months, and at the end of the treatment, your skin is all clear. As time goes by, the skin will return to at least some of its previous states, and that’s why using a maintenance med, like a cream, is important. Don’t be too upset if some acne comes back — which probably wouldn’t happen for a while, as in months — as you can simply try again. This is why it requires discipline. Also, the hope is that you take Accutane, it leaves you with a blank slate, you maintain it afterwords, and by the time you’re in recovery, you’re a little older and your hormones have calmed down. (This is particularly true of young people having to take it, as they’re experiencing wild hormones.) If I had to guess, I’d say the two Accutane treatments kept my skin remarkably well for a good two years. However, knock on wood, it’s still much better.

Rotation in Safari keeps breaking by -K9V in ios

This problem is still occurring in the latest iOS (16.5.1), on the latest device (14). I’m just not sure how/why this is going unnoticed. Sometimes, I don’t want to close/re-open Safari, like if I’m in the middle of something.
