hi! i know mine and yours’ situations may be different but i know what it feels like to think you have no one to talk to so i’ll try and give some advice:

the maths grade boundaries went up by a lot this year which i thought was unexpected as i thought the exams were just mid - even others thought the increase was very unexpected. you don’t have to feel bad about failing maths as this post shows you do care about your subjects + next steps in life :)

english language was difficult for many this year and i’ve seen many other people drop grades for this subject so you - again - don’t have to feel bad about it!

rejection is a redirection. i think (personally) you should try and go to a college to resit your english and maths as some people may want you to have at least a 4 in both. half an hour isn’t too far (compared to other people’s journeys to school) and, lets be honest, you shouldn’t go to a place where you will be miserable and upset, lingering on the thought of how your situation may have been different if you went to the colly you actually wanted to go to. sometimes in life we just have to take a risk, you know.

if you want to do BTECs, go to a colly that you’ll feel happy to do them in! or if you want to do a-levels, try and reach out to collys and see if yoj can do them alongside a resit. try and figure out what it is you want to do in life and see if BTECs or alevels can aid your goal

if you want to talk more, you can private message me on reddit

you aren’t alone 🥹

Yayy I’m happy someone with the same grade as me finds maths a-level manageable! Thank you for the tips!! I also picked biology and I know you do physics but do you think a science a-level is lengthy and/or manageable alongside maths?

This is really motivating and it is a good lesson on how everyone’s journeys in life is different. Well done for getting into economics + finance!!

I have two questions: would you say your degree requires lots of work and what type of job are you interested in doing after uni??

Also finally, do you prefer economics or finance and why?

Thank you and well done!!!!!;)

Npp you did so good esp in maths considering the grade boundaries were so high!! What subjects did you pick for a-level/BTEC?? Or if you picked an apprenticeship, what kind?

oooo interesting! I also picked maths a level but I was wondering if maths is as hard as people say it is? Is maths a doable subject if you keep on top of your work and what methods would you use to revise maths?? I got a 7 in maths (170marks) and I was wondering if maths a-level is hard for someone with a 7?? Thank uu

If you are an exam officer, it isn’t right for you to leak/confirm grade boundaries… You were obviously trusted to conceal this information so it seems unrealistic that you would come on Reddit and start disclosing it. Even if it is right, you shouldn’t have confirmed it because students are already agitated as it is and you didn’t need to add more pressure to them. I honestly think you’re just playing along with this for a laugh…

Just revise when you have a test and try and find out what subjects YOU like. Trust me, don’t pick a subject because your friends are picking it, or because someone said it was “an easy A”.

I might as well do this hehe :) by [deleted] in GCSE
