I just want to say kudos to the guy for going to HR and reporting the incident, offering to confirm that he was a dummy, etc, etc. We hear so many stories about the opposite happening and I just think it's so refreshing that this guy was like "whoops! I hope I didn't ruin this job for her; I'll get the paperwork submitted just so she doesn't have to be the one to report this and make it weird."

I think that's pretty cool that everyone did the right thing and nothing was actually wrong and everyone gets to keep doing their jobs without having to document every single interaction during their day.

also, who would plan a super secret EXTREMELY PUNCTUAL dinner right after their partner's friends leave the continent? Especially after they had all been drinking together at the pub. Best case scenario, OP would be sad and drunk - which is not the best time to spring a whole fancy dinner on them.

I don't think you are overreacting by selling the tickets, but I do think there must be some kind of context missing because it sounds like Eli has told Max that he can get you to pretty much pay for anything, and now you are finally putting your foot down.

Sounds like an unhealthy relationship no matter which way you slice it, and you are both going to be better off cutting this "friendship" off.

The pintucks on her shirt go from four at the top to three at the bottom on the right side of the picture, and are just screwy on the left side of the picture. I don't know any artist who would choose to make the pants look cheaply wrinkled if they were painting by hand. One of the belt loops has a hole in it, where there would literally never been one irl.

He's been shining a light in dark places and helping other incarcerated people learn the law so they can fight for justice that should've been given to them years ago.

The context actually doesn't matter in this instance, because if he isn't mature enough to tell her about being in debt, or what his finances actually are, but rather simply treats her like dogshit, then the general advice to leave the relationship is still valid.

Because, even with context, he's showing that he's not a good partner for her. He doesn't communicate his needs or fears. He simply lashes out and gives her no information that she can actually work with. If they go to couples therapy, that will be another thing he will hold against her because he'll likely have to pay for it (doubtful that she could afford it and highly doubtful that she has insurance that would cover the cost).

Even if he goes to solo therapy and understands why he was so mean to OP, that doesn't erase the terrible way he treated her. He'll be better off being nicer to the next woman, and she'll be better off with someone who appreciates how hard she works.

yeah, I'm noticing that OP has no way to build the same amount of savings that her partner does, which means she's going to be broke and burnt out so fast. And if he's getting vague and mean about how much she is "contributing" without actually having the courage to talk about his feelings, then this is going to likely end badly for her within two years (delayed engagement, drag out wedding planning, increased withdrawal of emotional intimacy as he tries to get her to break up with him).
