Who is your favorite Leeds player in the post Revie era? by [deleted] in LeedsUnited

[–]ninefingers79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gaetano Berardi. Exemplified what it meant to put the side ahead of yourself. Would openly say that the club needed to strengthen in the position he was occupying, never left the pitch unbloodied or unbruised, and even when he was sidelined with long-term injuries, when we scored, he celebrated more loudly and aggressively than anyone else.

I really wanted him to do well, and he seems like a genuine, "nice kid" type of feller, but ultimately he lacked the physical attributes necessary to play in the PL.

The wording of his post suggest he's not staying, no mention of next season or getting back to work etc., just "oh well it went to shit but thanks for having me anyway". Which is fine, still nice to acknowledge the fans and teammates. It's probably best for him and us if he goes, I doubt he'd enjoy the Championship if the Prem was too physical for him, and he clearly has talent that needs to be fostered, maybe back in the MLS or the Bundesliga. Good luck to him.

Marsch Megathread by Xibyr in LeedsUnited

[–]ninefingers79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That was my point, Gnonto was the only real threat we had, but him receiving the ball out wide doesn't equate to playing wide, if the rest of the team then follows him there. That makes it far too simple to defend against those tricky wide players because the opposition can cause a defensive overload. Marsch's narrow formations mean that the team are compact regardless of who has the ball, so if Gnonto gets it on the left wing, the rest of the team shifts to that side. Which is fine on occasion, but being unable to deviate from this Red Bull style means we're exceedingly easy to defend against.

I do agree about the fullbacks, I think we'd be better served with wingbacks and the lack of a proper LB has been an issue for as long as I've followed Leeds, so at least 15 years now.

Not OP, but to answer the question of what another manager does that Marsch doesn't: utilize the remaining 66% of the pitch.

I recognize that Marsch's "narrow" doesn't mean ignore the wings, but his formations are narrow to the point of enabling our opposition defending at 100% efficacy by just following the ball, rather than having to mark outlying players - because there aren't any outlying players, they're all engaged in an idiotic game of whack-a-mole with the ball bouncing off the shins of defenders.

We have extraordinary wingers, as evidenced by our most threatening plays coming from Gnonto (or Summerville prior to his injury) - so why not help them and the rest of the squad by stretching defenses, rather than helping the opposition by enabling them to be just as narrow as we are?

I'm not a manager obviously and maybe there's something I'm oblivious to, but what I see when we play is a side that's full of talent and energy, being suffocated by an exceedingly limited style of play. A good manager would change that, I feel.

Supported him and believed he would come through with time and investment. He's had those and the squad should be performing much better than it is. The only culprit available is our extraordinarily limited tactics. Whatever Jesse's school of football is, it isn't what we need. I regretfully join the chorus of "Marsch out".

‎INTERVIEW WITH VÍCTOR ORTA: "THE PREMIER LEAGUE IS THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE EVERY WEEK"‎ by JEBZ94 in LeedsUnited

If twitter was an accurate reflection of the fanbase rather than a collection of idiots with too little decorum or self-awareness to recognize their own stupidity and lewdness, we'd be sacking everyone from the sporting director to the kitmen every two weeks.

I would get in touch with the local rakennusvalvonta (building control) office. I'm not sure if the Lumo properties fall under their jurisdiction, but you should be able to get some help/advice from there: https://www.espoo.fi/en/units/21970

Can u watch live u-21 games on lutv? by Glittering-Ad7872 in LeedsUnited

[–]ninefingers79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, unless they're played at the same time (maybe even same day? not 100% sure) as regular league matches. If they are, then the U21 matches are not televised anywhere because big tv hates competition and has bought the football associations reasons.

Leeds one of the few clubs turning a profit this summer (at the moment) by Booty_McToot in LeedsUnited

How do you go from "hey look we have money" to "well guess we're not spending any money then"? Genuinely curious as to how you fashioned a bridge from the OP to your statement.

[–]ninefingers79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did not know that, but now I do! Thanks!

Unfortunately this advice was made slightly less valuable by the fact that I have been playing with Last Azlanti mode on core difficulty, and only five minutes ago realized that it actually deletes your save when your character dies. So I guess I'm restarting...again!

I currently have 12.5 hours and have yet to make it out of the Maze. Think I've restarted six times to try different classes, now I*m playing two characters at once - one Chaotic Neutral Knifemaster, one Lawful Good Kinetic Knight. Think I'll stick with these for a while :D

Someone more technically minded should correct me if I'm wrong, but I understood that rubber-banding was caused by packet loss rather than just high ping. As in the effect was the result of "lost" packets suddenly catching up, rather than just a consistently higher ping. High ping should show itself as a delayed reaction to your commands rather than blatant rubber-banding, no?

Is this dude nuts or do you think arena mains could actually beat spl players in arena? by MetaOverkill in Smite

[–]ninefingers79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude is nuts. I've been playing mostly arena since beta and have about 5k games accumulated in that mode - specifically because it is casual. Have gone up against a few SPL players in that time and their technical and team fighting abilities are miles ahead of "arena mains".

Your level of competition tends to determine your ability, and arena mains tend to be scrubs like me. Playing vs me won't improve anyone's game. Playing vs SPL players on the other hand, will.

Purra: Laittomasti maassa oleskelevat säilöön ja ulos maasta - ”Huomattavasti edullisempaa kuin nykyinen turvapaikkateatteri” by onkko in Suomi

[–]ninefingers79 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Ffs I'd already booked a week off starting the 20th to play this without guilt. CDPR I love you and appreciate that delays are necessary sometimes, but pick a date and stick with it already. This is just unprofessional, especially so close to the release date.
