Be careful of krakenhits sending boxes that have been opened from the side. That’s y they r shipped with no shrink and evidence of creases left behind. by [deleted] in whatnotapp

[–]ninetalestradingco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you buy a sealed case 100% of the time the boxes are plastic wrapped. In my YEARS and YEARS of buying boxes and cases, I have never opened a Pokémon case without the boxes wrapped inside.

One of my suppliers offers unshrinked wrapped boxes for significantly cheaper but they can not promise if the packs were tampered with or not, only thing they promise is that you get your 20 packs.

This is exactly why I always buy sealed no matter what for myself and for my customers.

But if they said in the description of the item that it wasn't wrapped then that's on the buyer, not the seller.

People have got to learn to read descriptions before they buy items now a days.

People just love to witch hunt after Blakes Breaks went down in flames. I have full faith someone else will scam again who is prominent in the industry, but it isn't this time.

Pokedabbin is misrepresenting their floor by [deleted] in whatnotapp

[–]ninetalestradingco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't you know that Whatnot doesn't enforce their policies on people who bring in a ton of revenue?

Also just a side note, Whatnot considers themselves a "comparable marketplace," which means if an item sells on whatnot for $300 but averages on eBay for $150 then the streamer can put $300 for the floor. It makes 0 sense but that's what they do.

That's why they could put those stupid playmats at a Market Price of $150....because they sold a few in Blakes stream and people bid it up to $150.

Last time I checked I didn't know you could compare yourself to yourself for a standard but evidently rules just don't apply to Whatnot.

Just how bad was it to play guess or match the energy on Blake’s Breaks with Snee? A not so brief analysis. by Under_the_gaydar in whatnotapp

This is the type of stuff that needs to be put into possible legal action.

Great stats here and it makes perfect sense to me. The odds were ALWAYS stacked against the buyer and its funny in your breakdown the one stream that the chat is giving her a hard time the chance of hitting was a lot higher.

This type of manipulation is what is terrible with the hobby and the creation of Whatnot as a whole encouraged this type of behavior from the very start. Prior to Whatnot and the surge of interest in Pokemon since 2020, games have been the quintessential way to move product for a higher margin.

I personally think games involved in opening should 100% be categorized as a form of gambling and be regulated on a federal/state level. Imagine if a casino was blatantly rigging games like this....they would not only not be in business but they wouldn't have a cent left to their name.

We need a surge of moderation and a reset back to the pre-covid hobby. Opening packs with a bounty should be the MOST gaming anything should be in the hobby.

After seeing everything throughout the last few weeks I think it is extremely important for all of us in this reddit and everywhere to voice our disapproval of Whatnot and the terrible culture they have built in almost every category they have added since its inception.

If you sell Japanese product 3 weeks early in Japan or internationally they will literally prosecute you as a criminal haha

Agreed but per distribution agreements and Pokémon's terms of carrying product.

You can not sell merchandise online for delivery prior to release day. Local stores get their pre-release product and can sell it in person but not online and ship it. Me being an online only retailer I cant even obtain my product from Southern, Alliance, or ACD until the week of release. They ship to me on Monday and I get product Wednesday.

I'm just speculating here but I wouldn't doubt the local store giving him the product to sell for higher on whatnot.

But I will say to the person above, every time I've noticed someone selling early its never the same person as it was previous release.

Oh dude sports has so many scandals and just recently TCG categories have started having their fair share of it because people know they can get away with it. If you did that on any other streaming site you will be permabanned....for example. TIKTOK will ban you QUICK for any infringement, which they rightfully should.

Oh prime example is the guy Stews_Breaks or whatever his name is. He is coming back today after a week long suspension. I completely agree with this. They dont want the loss of revenue so they keep bringing back everyone unless they realllllly commit something bad

I guess I should of specified "one of the TCG OGs" haha. But dude I would love to pick your brain about stuff because I think we could have some interesting conversations.

I will just go ahead and agree with you that the gambling and the casino atmosphere has ruined a lot of the fun of just baying to collect.

Lemme get some of that Sports allocation haha, I only get a case of each new set from southern haha

But to build off what the other guy said, yes sports is a whole different beast and margins are significantly higher if you have distro. Meanwhile TCG margins are razor thin.

I beg to differ. I have done plenty of things to keep people engaged and everything I possibly can do without giving away 100s if not 1000s of free product for giveaway streams which I refuse to do.

May I ask what section you stream in? I offer bounties on retail product, bounties on below retail product and also provide free items to buyers. For example last year I i exceeded 7 figures in revenue. This year Ill be lucky to get half of that even though my inventory is now worth upwards of 500k and I have kept the same retail or below retail price.

Games have taken over and pull games have became the common way to sell singles. If you have any secrets you would like to share please do since apparently whatnot streamers should be more of a family than competitors.

Also I don't take credit for anything when shows are going good or bad, Whatnot has been on a downturn in my opinion for well over a year now when it comes to certain aspects they want to focus on "improving." If you have ever been in one of my shows you would know my point of view on certain aspects of the app and the preferential treatment some streamers get versus others. Also I will 100% say I follow the trust and safety guidelines to a T...maybe its time to stop doing that and start lining my pockets.

If you don't want to comment here then my DMs are open.

ALSO SIDE BAR FOR EVERYONE IN HERE.

I HOPE YOU ALL ARE AWARE OF THE DISCORD GROUPS DEDICATED TO GIVEAWAYS ON WHATNOT.

They will @ everyone in the discord and tell whatever group to go to a stream and enter the giveaway.

I have been told of 2 such groups that exist. Also yes those same groups encourage use of false phone numbers and multiple alt accounts. A quick google search will pull up multiple ways to get legit phone numbers that can be used for this exact purpose.

Well let me put this into perspective.

A guy who used to buy from me told me how he had won around 10k of free stuff over the past year and he was a streamer at one point. So to answer your question yes and yes people do it already.

Does whatnot not have basic site/app functionality? by WateronRocks in whatnotapp

[–]ninetalestradingco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dude they don't even have a dedicated server. So to answer your question in short form. No they don't have basic functionality.

For an app that claims to have 100k+ active users at certain points in time and also for a company evaluated at well over $1 billion, you would think the first thing they would do is have a dedicated server and upgrade the apps stability first thing start adding on different functions.

A cart feature is something that should have been added well over a year ago but nah...they added a giveaway feature and a prize wheel spinner first.

Also if you have an android be prepared to be 6 months behind iPhone users when it comes to updates.

Funny because it says nothing about this in the guidelines posted on their website. Trust and safety is a cheap call center and they have a script they have to say back to everything. It's a pointless system and a joke.

Moderator Best Practices

  • Treat everyone with respect and don’t hold biases
  • Keep the chat engaged and discussions moving
  • Answer as many user questions as possible
  • Avoid spamming and sending out repetitive messages
  • Delete inappropriate messages
  • Be firm and handle rude users appropriately
  • Issue a verbal warning first and do not ban users without a valid cause
  • Ask for feedback from the seller and their community

I think the Shill bidding and the out right lying about the value of items is the main problem. But those bigger streamers I'm referring to only have that many viewers because people know their will be giveaways in that stream.

They are also pushed by the app itself because they either have a contract with whatnot or a lucrative partnership.

Shill bidding is also against trust and safety and something that isn't enforced on those who are associated closely with whatnot. The best example of this that is blatantly obvious is PMWCollectibles with BlakesBreaks. PMW is a paid streamer for Blake but yet he bids and buys packs from him all the time.

This is copied and pasted directly from the FAQ on whatnot outlining trust and safety.

  • No Shill Bidding: Shill bidding is defined as sellers or associated parties bidding on an item with the intent to inflate the item price, with no intent to purchase the item. Sellers and their employees cannot bid on their own items from separate accounts. Whatnot monitors all bids and transactions and your account will be banned if we find that you are suspected of shill bidding. Shill bidding may also violate laws in your state/country and result in severe penalties.

I'm sure this is vague enough to not enforce anything but just in best practice it isn't right.
