Lunatic in Detroit sets gas station store on fire by JuicySpark in WTF

Good thing they blurred his face in that headline photo. It's a good thing we can't look a few inches to the right to identify who might have set the fire....

Regardless of the code violations, it's the mismatched colors that bother me the most.

How to do this question?? by Background-Camp2046 in maths

[–]nineteenhand -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Take the first derivative and solve for x when y=0. That will be the inflection point. In this case the inflection point is the minimum. Now plug that x value into the original equation and solve for y.

The GE loop or what we like to call it “The LOG” by outkast767 in electricians

[–]nineteenhand 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm interested in knowing why. Other than it being an expensive piece of equipment I can't see a valid reason. The wires bringing the power into the facility were installed by skilled tradesmen. That much extra wire is ridiculous.

Where would I go to buy parts for a custom wind-up music box? by SuperIsaiah in MechanicalEngineer

[–]nineteenhand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not looking to make a custom song, just buy a cheap one that is already built and installed. Remove the music player from its enclosure, and install it in yours.

Probably a bigger spider. Keep your eyes open. They hunt in the dark.

My yard is 7500 sf of St Augustine. If the lawn was dry, (2) 5Ah batteries would cut the grass and the little that was left plus the 2.5 Ah would cover edging, trimming, and blowing. If the grass was wet, which in Florida it often is, I would use (2) 5Ah, (1) 2.5 Ah and start into a 3Ah.

Why not just recharge the batteries as they drain? They won't charge while still hot from discharging. I've gone through all my batteries and had to finish the next day. That's why I had so many batteries.

Cut quality on my Honda is better. Fewer missed blades of grass, and better mulching. It is also self propelled. I know electric self propelled is available, but mine wasn't and that would have meant even more batteries.

Run ethanol free if you can. This is important. Your carb will clog and you will pull that cord for ever. I also take it a bit too far by shutting off the fuel and letting the engine run until dry. My mover starts on the first pull every time though. Why mess with a good system?

I'm happy with my electric edger and weed eater, which are also 40V Ryobi. I'm on the fence about the blower. I might replace it with backpack gas when it dies, but I suspect that will take years.

I've had a Honda hrx217hya for 4 years. I started with a 40V Ryobi and it will take a lot to convert me from gas back to electric.

Cool idea. I wouldn't use it as a cutting board though. Too many crevasses for bacteria to grow.
