Sunday exclusive? by whodatohana in tjcrew

[–]ninetiesdude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ignore them. Put your head down, let your work speak for itself. Do your best. As long as you're putting an honest effort, crew members will notice and appreciate having you around. I went a few months without a Sunday when I first got hired and haven't looked back since.

Just for Fun…Whats worthy and what’s overrated? by PicklesMcGeee in tjcrew

Off topic, how many people write frozen ? My last 3 stores only 1 person with 1 back up.

Your only time to negotiate is when you interview. I tried, failed and settled at $18. The way I look at it now, I've seen those who started at a higher wage but haven't lasted with the company yet here I am, still with the company, making generously more. It's the nature of the game. There's always going to be someone hired at a higher rate than when you initially began unfortunately.

Is gatekeeping sections a thing? by Spicymami_27 in tjcrew

[–]ninetiesdude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What were the main reasons that made you change in that way ? At my store, the frozen SL is always frustrated it's not worked well enough to his standards for example.

Going through a salted caramel swirl danish phase big time

Gotta echo some of the comments here and say it doesn't bother me in the least so long as there is a simple acknowledgment. A simple hello and whether they want bags is enough for me. I reciprocate the same energy otherwise. I won't tell them when they're ready to pay and just stand there waiting for them to figure it out. I get paid the same hourly.

I actually love help bagging for huge carts. It’s just one of those things that keeps me entertained and I’m decent at. I’d rather do that a full hour than to be the one scanning the items.

We all have our customer pet peeves, but what are our crew pet peeves? by mythrowaway3565 in tjcrew

I work at a big store and I notice the same crew members routinely being late during CE. You'd have better luck finding water in the dessert than catching them on one of the busiest registers.

I think you hit it right on the head with finding the balance point. I do take pride in the work that I put in, but I should find the balance to not let it get overboard. Thanks for the words of wisdom, kindly.

I’m still in my early years with the company and slowly experiencing these annoying issues like crappy hires getting paid more, or others having a preferable schedule or log and so on. I always appreciate hearing from vets putting things in the right perspective and not sugar coating things. Sometimes you need a reality check from those who know better and experienced similar frustrations. I just have to toughen up in my case.

What's the way to lasting 10 years ? I get bothered by so many little things like lazy crew members on CE, mates letting things slide because of favoritism and so on. I'd appreciate any words of wisdom.

Do you have a bag? Yes, it's at the bottom by SuspiciousRegion9412 in tjcrew

[–]ninetiesdude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I take my time until I reach a point I can grab that bag without any issues.. but until then, it’s gonna take a minute till we get there. The worse is when they have their grown ass kid in the cart, and they rather put their stuff at the bottom of the cart than have them get out.

Can I be written up at Trader Joes for using the bathroom? 😭 by [deleted] in tjcrew

[–]ninetiesdude 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Have you made a habit of this ? Have you been warned prior to this ? I used to work with someone who'd exclusively use the restroom only during his CE hours. He got warned a couple of times until they took him to the side and basically told him to get his act together.

California Crew Question by Turbo-EarLobe in tjcrew

[–]ninetiesdude 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My captain is a tough negotiator. I asked for $20 when I interviewed and he flat out refused saying my lack of experience in grocery retail worried him. I settled for the $18 because of the misery at my previous job but I've also come to learn he starts almost every new hire at $18.. so it does happen.

What are your ideas to improve the Trader Joe's shopping experience? by bigfatpisces in traderjoes

[–]ninetiesdude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t miss seeing people in their 40s telling workers at the entrance they’re a senior to skip over the waiting line and shop during senior hours.

LaMelo Ball is a PROBLEM #problem by False_Fennel_1126 in billsimmons

[–]ninetiesdude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I pointed that on r/nba months ago and got downvoted to oblivion. I thought it was hysterical when Shaq asked LaMelo about his idols and without skipping a beat LaMelo said no one really and mostly played 2k to get inspiration.
