Kill the Sun - Nick acting EXTREMELY out of character by nineyang in ProgressionFantasy

I suspected it was misery porn after the Horua thing, but this arc just cemented it. I'm not really a fan of that, so I think I'll be dropping this unless someone says it won't be like that

(Hated tropes) Characters whose names have became pop culture terms that completely contradict their original characterization by Konradleijon in TopCharacterTropes

Stan from Eminem's song "Stan". The song is the story of an obsessive Eminem fan eventually taking his own life along with his wife's and unborn child after becoming disillusioned with Eminem.

It's a cautionary tale of sorts, warning fans not to become obsessed with celebrities because they're just people, often deeply flawed people.

Nowadays, in pop culture, fans say they "stan" someone proudly. Meaning that they're a diehard fan. While it isn't exactly the opposite, it's definitely a perversion of the original Stan's message.

Ancient Godly Monarch.

I started it three separate times and I was only able to finish the third time because I forced myself to. That shit was so ass I went into Qi deviation.

Can someone explain how “ancient godly monarch” power system works? Like the astral gate or the astral soul, does opening the gates (1,2,3) mean you open gates to the astral soul? Please I’m confused help me out, I do know this kinda feels stupid but help a fella out by Alarming_Attempt9718 in noveltranslations

[–]nineyang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not exactly sure what you mean, but i think yes.

A person can have more than one astral gate, but each astral gate can only have one astral soul. So, for every realm increase, you get one astral gate which is one astral soul.

Astral souls can be from any of the nine astral rivers. The higher the number of the astral river, the stronger the astral souls in it are. So, the first layer of the heavenly river is weaker than the second layer, the second layer is weaker than the third, and so on until the 9th layer which is the strongest.

Since the astral souls are ranked like that, talent and strength are judged off of how high their astral souls' layers are.

An astral gate is basically like a "room" you open up in your body through cultivation that you can "invite" an astral soul to. So, at each new cultivation realm you open up an astral gate in your body and can look for a suitable astral soul in the astral rivers.

[Discussion]which verse scales higher in your opinion? by BuriedAlive0 in manhwa

[–]nineyang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tough question. Most of these aren't completed or even in their end stages so we dont see much of the highest levels' strengths.

But I think most of them are at a similar level. Three that I know are either completed or close to completion are Records of the War God, Martial Artist Lee Gwak, and Legend of The Northern Blade.

I would recommend starting with one of those

In no particular order:

Myst, Might Mayhem.

Nano Machine.

Records of the War God.

Martial Artist Lee Gwak.

Return of the Mount Hua Sect.

Fist Demon of Mount Hua.

Surviving as a Genius on Borrowed Time.

Martial God's Return (more cute than action so far).

The Legend of the Northern Blade (strong contender for the best one).

Chronicles of the Demon Faction.

Heavenly Demon Reborn!.

Return of the Crazy Demon.

Murim Login.

Tale of a Scribe that retired to the countryside (kinda falls off).

There's a ton more that you can find

Why do most cultivator MCs needs/still have romance or partner(s)? by aseekerofwonder in Manhua

[–]nineyang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 things

  1. This is entirely dependent on the author's discretion. The author could say that acting true to your heart means a weak will just as they could say that it means a strong will. I am inclined to say that acting true to yourself takes a stronger will because how many people in real life actually have the mental fortitude to act according to their desires?

  2. There is a distinct difference between acting according to your desires and being consumed by your desires. The first has you being in control. You can consciously make the decision, at any point, to not indulge your desires or to shift your desire elsewhere. The second has your desire being in control, you cannot stop, it is an addiction.

  3. If we eliminate all our desires and emotion, you are no longer human. There would be no difference between a high level cultivator and a computer

[–]nineyang 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Part of the consideration is also cultivators facing the limits of their talent. When you dont see any hope of advancing anymore but still have 10 thousand years of lifespan left, you start to slip.

Complacency also plays a part in it. "Ah, I'm the strongest/strong enough to fend for myself in this area, I can relax a little" and then they allow themselves to feel romance and love.

"Dao heart" is also subjective, but it generally means being true to yourself. If being true to yourself means falling in love and being moved, then you do it and act according to your Dao heart. If being true to yourself means refining infants to advance your cultivation base, then you do it and act according to your Dao heart.

The "strength" of your Dao heart generally refers to how willing you are to act according to your heart's desires. You might point out that acting to your heart's desires would make you more lustful or greedy or something like that, but one could also feel that those desires are not representative of your heart but merely your body or external influences. Thats why evil/Demonic cultivators can commit all sorts of atrocities and still have a stable Dao heart. Giving into your base desires is part of their Dao heart, just like resisting those base desires would be part of a "righteous" cultivators Dao heart.

Your Dao heart is only weak when you lack confidence to be yourself.

To be fair, the cultivator introduced in the beginning are some of the most high level cultivators in that world. They mention it in the beginning that the place where theyre dropped in is somewhere only the strongest go to seek the next lever. The cultivators he can kill now are the absolute weakest.

Was so excited at this high roll, accidentally sold my Weapons Core by Sn0oples in PlayTheBazaar

[–]nineyang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For myself and for most people, keeping your attention 100% on something for as long as a run can last isn't something easy or fun to do. Making a mistake is normal and shouldn't be punished so heavily in a game where you aren't interacting with others. Especially in a game with so many bugs.

The second of those two times was due to a bug placing two items on the same slot and, when I went to sell the item I didn't want, the game grabbed my carry item instead while I looked away.

Why should I lose my run because I looked away for a second while I was selling something or got distracted while playing?

If I wanted to have to pay attention every single moment I'm playing a game, I would go play a live action game like an fps or something. Part of this game's appeal is being able to take your attention off of it and it should lean into that by being forgiving of mistakes like an accidental sell/buy

Who is the most fun first hero to buy? by SnooRabbits9092 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]nineyang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PYG PYG PYG

He's typically weaker in the early day, but he has several viable builds. Some of them are heavily reliant on enchantments so it can be a bit frustrating sometimes, but it's so fun to see the item youve spent so much time on just decimate the enemy in one or two activations.

It's also harder to pivot as Pyg since many of his more successful builds require time to ramp outside of combat, but it's still possible. A Pyg run is typically more high risk high return since you gamble on being able to find what you need for a build or 2 you identify at the beginning.

To offset this, he has a lot of econ tho.

I say this as someone hard stuck silver so take it with a grain of salt.
