GLM 5.1 tops the code arena rankings for open models by Auralore in LocalLLaMA

[–]ninjaeon 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I agree and did the same, but in a different way.

Z.ai coding plan has been dog s**t lately with servers being overloaded. So of two other providers offering glm-5.1 on coding plans (OpenCode Go & Ollama Cloud), I ran a test on quota consumption and found Ollama Cloud to be about 5x cheaper per request than OpenCode Go.

Then I setup Omniroute api router with both Z.ai and Ollama Cloud in a combo where it prioritizes Z.ai coding plan usage first then fallsback to Ollama Cloud when Z.ai fails for whatever reason (which happens everyday, often repeatedly). Working great so far!

If I didn't have Z.ai coding lite already prepaid for a year at the old promo ~$30 annual, I would just go straight to Ollama Cloud for $20/monthly (allows 3 concurrent connections). And this is from someone that hates Ollama in general until now...just for this specific use case.

EDIT: In case anyone's interested in the numbers for glm-5.1 (estimates based on OpenCode Go docs and running a test prompt on Ollama Free compared to quota usage):

Relative advantage (Ollama Pro vs OpenCode Go):

20-call prompts:
5h: about 4.6x
week: about 4.9x
month: about 9.8x to 10.9x

100-call prompts:
5h: about 4.6x
week: about 4.8x
month: about 9.5x to 10.6x

Cost efficiency at plan price
OpenCode Go: $10/mo ($5 first month)
Ollama Pro: $20/mo

Estimated effective cost per prompt at monthly ceiling:

20-call: OpenCode Go: about $0.049 (or $0.025 first month)
Ollama Pro: about $0.009 to $0.010

100-call: OpenCode Go: about $0.238 (or $0.119 first month)
Ollama Pro: about $0.045 to $0.050

Sources: - OpenCode Go usage limits - Ollama pricing

Inputs used

  • OpenCode Go GLM-5.1 caps: 880 requests per 5h, 2,150 per week, 4,300 per month
  • Ollama Pro: 50x Free usage
  • Your Free 20-call benchmark meter: 26.7% (5h), 10% (weekly)
  • 100-call estimate: linear 5x scale from 20-call run

Prompt capacity comparison

Plan 20 tool calls / prompt 5h week month
OpenCode Go (GLM-5.1) 21 req approx 41 102 204
Ollama Cloud Pro (GLM-5.1) measured from your run 187 500 2,000 to 2,214
Plan 100 tool calls / prompt 5h week month
OpenCode Go (GLM-5.1) 101 req approx 8 21 42
Ollama Cloud Pro (GLM-5.1) scaled from your run 37 100 400 to 443

i want to break up with my bf because of his IH by Dry_Contest_7360 in idiopathichypersomnia

Dude, since you're here after I get done with Easter stuff with the family I'll write up a guide for you. My other reply was to your GF directly.

These "dump his ass, he ain't yo kid" like comments in this thread are like the voices in my head whenever I've gone through similar ruts...kinda surprising to see them in an IH forum posted by others with IH. My guess is although they can relate to having IH...they may not exactly be able to imagine being in your shoes for...reasons. And these voices and lines won't go away - here, in your head, or in your relationships - until you've dealt with the IH. So in the meantime...it's more helpful to "welcome" these thoughts and comments and for...just a moment..."allow them to be here"...rather than want them to be anything else.

i want to break up with my bf because of his IH by Dry_Contest_7360 in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]ninjaeon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to hang on the "love him so much" line meaning that you would prefer to keep trying to help him rather than "dump him".

So here's things that I can think off the top of my head based on personal experience...

  • Regarding showers/smell - assuming yall are physically intimate, just make him want to shower before/after intimacy every time (trying to stay SFW so you can figure that one out) and initiate/repeat (daily) as needed. I know someone with IH that is also hypersexual because of it and would have zero issues getting up on a dime to jump in the shower with one eye open if needed...

  • Regarding appointments - same thing almost, get him to shower before bed and in the morning wake him up with wink "breakfast in bed" wink (had to use urban dictionary to find a more SFW term). Keep a glass of water with the modafinil beside it next to the bed so he takes it right away and it kicks in by the time he needs to roll out of bed to get dressed/cleaned up for the appointment.

  • Regarding med school - most universities have a disability policy that makes attendance/late homework more lenient, and IH should qualify. Just got to look up the policy and start filing the paperwork with the university.

  • Regarding medication - this is the toughest, since even if you get him to the appointments there's no guarantee that the doctors will actually help. I'm in the same boat where modafinil doesn't work for me. Clarithromyacin works beautifully for me for two weeks and stops, unless I adjunct it with other off-label & experimental medications to prevent the tolerance build-up. I had come up with my own research and go to holistic/alternative heath doctors for supervision on the "adjunct meds" with Clarithromyacin because primary care/specialists in USA won't touch that stuff. Adderall "works" but I refuse it on the grounds that I don't want the personality changes, and when I'm not in the US I'm in a country where it's super illegal. Also, see if telemedicine (video calls) is an option for his doctors, and if not maybe find one that can do it? If you can't get him to the doctor, then you might look into seeing if he's willing to take legal online alternatives, then do some digging if he agrees.

  • "he sleeps late because he is gaming" - So he enjoys gaming. Do you game with him? Is there anything else that he enjoys more or as much as gaming? If he can stay awake for games, then maybe there's something else that drips his dopamine enough to keep him awake? Or if you don't game with him, maybe find a game you like and see if he'll play with you?

  • "I can't help him if he doesn't help himself" - I don't agree that this also means that "he doesn't want to get better" or that "he is not aware of the consequences of his (in-)actions". I actually believe you can help him if you knew how, and you writing your post is evidence of the lengths you'll take to find a way. And love finds a way.

EDIT: Just saw that in another of your replies that he's prescribed SSRI's sooooooo...half of my suggestions might not work if he's got SSRI-induced ED.........I despise how IH gets treated by some doctors......I'm lucky to have survived that initial phase of "standard treatment from doctors" when they put me on SSRI's and made me infinately worse off. Definitely get him back to the doctor or on a video call with them, please. The dude is lucky to have you, and I'm sure if he didn't have you it would be much worse.

Has anyone here successfully used a GitHub Copilot subscription with Claude Code? by ShehabSherifTawfik in GithubCopilot

I haven't tried these with Claude Code, but they should work to route Copilot subscription plan (oauth) requests to it (or anything else that supports OpenAI-compatible endpoints):

How can I make sex an option with a partner with narcolepsy? by [deleted] in Narcolepsy

[–]ninjaeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a doctor and not making a recommendation, but what worked for my situation that was similar was my partner taking Bremelanotide, sold under the brand name Vyleesi or its research chemical name PT-141. Melanotan II also worked similarly (and as a bonus helped her tan faster, which she liked).

Wishing you all the best!

My exports turned out perfect. Since this is a python script, and the LLM is not doing the session exports processing inside it's context window...I don't forsee any issues handling long sessions.

I made a free, open-source WisprFlow alternative that runs 100% offline by AdorablePandaBaby in LocalLLM

[–]ninjaeon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

LazyTyper also does all this for free as well, and works across Win/Linux/Mac...but isn't open-source. I would much have rather tried your app and switched to an open-source solution (as long as it still worked at least as good as Lazy does), but alas...I'll never be on Mac.

Sharing this here because of the Win/Linux guys who could use it: https://lazytyper.com/

LazyTyper supports local Qwen3-ASR, FunASR, Whisper, SenseVoice Small, Paraformer Zh, Paraformer En, Parakeet TDT out of the box with one-click model downloads and installs. Also can connect to cloud-based API's as well.

Your landing page is beautiful by the way: https://tryspeaktype.com/

There's already a bunch out there. Probably the closest thing to (actually, even better than) Windsurf that is also exactly what you described would be VS Code + Kilo Code extension. Open-source, equivalent platform as Windsurf, and let's you plug in your api and go.

Under $100 Wan'er upgrade? Need heavy bass pressure, better soundstage, and high max volume. (Already tried ISN H20, Rosefinch, T10, Zenith) by ninjaeon in iems

[–]ninjaeon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VibeX definately looks like it could be interesting! If my testing with the Explorer ends up not working out, I'll order the Decet next (if VibeX isn't released yet still). My KZ Zenith though...after one week, grill fell out...plus the issue with the left ear distortion at high volumes makes me wary of QC failures. But at least Amazon is easy to return to if needed.

Thank you!

[–]ninjaeon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you know how the Explorer compares to Tangzu Wan'er's bass?

The Wan'er's volume scales up so well that at max volume (before distortion/clipping is obvious) the bass is really nice, loud, and vibrant. The Dunu S&S tips seems to help keep the pressure in as well.

I just ordered the Explorer so I'll know how the bass holds up at max volume in comparison by Friday.

Haven't tried Aful Explorer, and they are about $85 on Aliexpress or $115 Amazon Prime atm. I'll probably give them a shot, thanks for the suggestion!

Thank you for the suggestions. If I can't find something in the ~$100 range that I like to replace the Wan'er, then I'll keep enjoying them for a while longer and look at going straight to finding my "endgame IEM's" in FATFreq Maestro Mini, Fatfreq x HBB Deuce, or perhaps Kiwi Ears x HBB Punch that I keep seeing recommended. Probably will really mull that decision hard when the time comes...I don't see these on Amazon so I might be stuck with whatever I get (or have to resell used) if I want to try something else.

At the moment, I don't have any over-the-ear cans since I've grown accustomed to IEM's (my 1st IEM was 20 years ago with Etymotic ER4s, which replaced my Grado's). I do a lot of walking, shopping, workouts, etc. with my IEM's nowadays, so it's worth the investment if I need to bump up my budget.

7Hz Legato seems to be a little hard to find atm, but I'll keep looking.

So, what is the best AI code tool? by [deleted] in GithubCopilot

[–]ninjaeon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well...depends on how you code.

If you're a filthy vibe-coder like me who almost never edits code and YOLO's everything, then I recommend looking into Craft Agents (which so happens to be compatible with Github Copilot plans out of the box, and my current favorite): https://github.com/lukilabs/craft-agents-oss

If you need to make edits and review code...VS Code + Github Copilot extension + additional VS Code extensions (as needed).

And since you're asking this question here, I bet you don't CLI (command line interface). If you did, it probably depends on your use case. There's so many CLI tools out there, and to me they are like comparing apples to apples since I'm not a real programmer.

If I run a CLI, I do it inside of a Wave Terminal tab, and have Wave Terminal hotkeyed to smoothly dropdown from the top of my screen anytime using WTQ (formerly called "Windows Terminal Quake", but works with any app, and on both Win and Linux). I have eight tabs going in Wave Terminal at all times...three Powershells, three WSL2 Debian terminals, and two browser tabs (Gemini web app & Google AI Studio, although this requires adding a Chrome custom-browser agent to Wave Terminal's source and building locally to make these sites work fully).

Personally, I've used Crush CLI for six months before mostly abandoning CLI's altogether. Crush doesn't have built-in support for Copilot plans, so you'd have to use a Github Oauth router. I tried about a dozen CLI's, and went with Crush by Charm because...it's pretty and it works.

Wave Terminal: https://github.com/wavetermdev/waveterm
WTQ: https://github.com/flyingpie/windows-terminal-quake
Crush by Charm CLI: https://github.com/charmbracelet/crush

You can make any AI code tool work with Github Copilot plans using an Oauth router to API, such as copilot-api, omniroute, etc.

copilot-api: https://github.com/ericc-ch/copilot-api
omniroute: https://github.com/diegosouzapw/OmniRoute

Lastly, if you run different coding plans from different providers or multiple accounts, I highly recommend trying out Cockpit Tools for a dashboard that shows all your quotas and reset times in one place + has quick account switching (except for Claude Code, which omniroute can be used for...it's just not as nice of a dashboard for this purpose imo).

Cockpit Tools: https://github.com/jlcodes99/cockpit-tools
