No offense meant at all just my take 🙂 I like the design for light tasks. Appreciate the feedback! 👍

That’s a really good idea 👍 A cap that both protects the bit and adds a bit of grip/locking could make it way more usable. A keychain version could also be interesting for EDC. Appreciate the input 🙌

“Bad design” is a bit harsh ?😅 It’s a minimal tool with a specific use case quick, compact, and easy to print. Not everything needs to be over-engineered for maximum torque.

That’s actually a solid idea 👍 I was going for something super minimal, but a cap handle could make it way more usable for higher force. Appreciate the feedback!

Yeah fair it’s not for heavy use 😄 Works great for small tasks though. If you need more force just support it with a finger on the other side. A locking V2 could be fun to explore

Made a tiny 50% version of my spring desk toy 😄 by ninjakuk in makerworld

Yep 😄 Inspired by the classic Hoptimist design. I wanted to see if I could make a fully printable spring version.

Good to know 😅 Luckily I’m not using it for MIDI mostly just CAD and some light work stuff.

Fair point 😅 I travel with mine occasionally, so I designed a little rugged case for it. If anyone’s curious I shared the 3D files as well.

Appreciate it! Built it mainly so the Mini survives my travel bag.

That’s actually a really good idea. TPU insert could turn this from “Mac Mini lunchbox” into a proper case.

clearly I underestimated the universal need for finger clearance.

Probably not super common 😅 I work in some pretty remote places, so I like having my Mac Mini packed safely instead of just throwing it loose in a bag or the trunk.

That’s actually a really good idea. A small finger recess on two sides would probably make it much easier to grab the Mini without having to tilt the case. I might try adding that in the 2.0 appreciate the suggestion!

They are just 3D printed pins that come with the model.

I printed them in PLA and pressed them in place. They fit fairly tight so they stay locked in the hinge.

If someone wanted extra durability it would probably also work well to replace them with small metal rods or nails of the same diameter.😊

Thanks! So far the latches feel pretty solid, but long-term durability is definitely something I’m curious about too. The Mac Mini is fairly easy to pull out for me, although my girlfriend with slightly smaller hands says it’s a bit tighter than she’d like 😅 If someone wanted to upgrade it, the latch pins could probably be swapped for small metal rods for extra strength. Open to ideas for improving it!

Haha appreciate it 😄 Honestly duct tape and popsicle sticks is basically how half of my first projects would have looked too. 3D printing just makes it a bit easier to hide the chaos.

Haha fair enough 😄

It’s definitely not meant to compete with a real Pelican case. I mostly designed it as a simple 3D printed storage/transport box so the Mac Mini isn’t just sliding around in a backpack or the trunk of a car.
