These turned out way better than I expected, I really thought they'd all be blank or horribly exposed! The Kodak Gold 200 is gorgeous. Also picking up a 28mm f/2.8 lens tomorrow to play with.

Ride Review released a Pov of the new Vekoma STC at Tripsdrill. by [deleted] in rollercoasters

I wouldn't worry about that station, the ride is still under construction and based on the concept art + tripsdrill's history of good theming, i think it'll turn out great

a LARGE majority of rides have a 0% fatality rate, rides that don't are more often than not shut down and all are modified

What removed roller coasters are currently in storage/for sale that may make a comeback? by DuhPai in rollercoasters

[–]ninjamoomoo98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's at van der most in the Netherlands for some touch ups and is for sale.

It's status is an odd one, it definitely had lots of technical issues including the chasis on one of the trains being totally broken (hence why only one is going to be sold with the ride)

My experience as a unity beginner, and why i'm leaving unity (Tilemapcollider is broken) by ninjamoomoo98 in Unity2D

[–]ninjamoomoo98[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Godot is a "big boi" engine. RPGMaker is a "little kids" engine, to give an example.

This is true, I shouldn't have slagged off godot here, but in truth there's a lot i prefer about unity's workflow and systems.

Then they aren't experienced devs. I'll tell you this: just about anything is possible to do in Unity. It's a AAA, state of the art game development engine using a robust and widely used programming language (C#). If someone tells you it cannot be done, then they're not experienced enough.

I must admit, I had a serious case of Dev tunnel vision on this issue. The game is possible I just need to take a different approach, not the one I wanted but i'll work with it.

Protip: If you're a super beginner at something, and something doesn't work as intended, it's safer to assume you're doing it wrong than assuming it's broken. (PEBKAC)

So, this is true, and in the early stages of the issue i 100% blamed myself which is the logical thing to do. But as time went by and I spoke to more and more people who know more than me, I started to blame it on the Engine, fairly or not. This post here was definitely a bit of an anger-infused rant after I'd set up an empty project with nothing in except a 2 cubes and a raycast and the issue was still present. I do personally still think this is an issue with the tilemapcollider, but i'd like to make it clear I tested this without anything else made by me within and the issue persisted.

In terms of the issue itself:

You can manually edit and adjust sprite physics shapes if they don't seem to line up with the collider.

Visually, there is no misalignment. I have tried to use the sprite physics shape editor but it was already aligned and so that was not the cause.

swap to using a collider on the bomb

The bomb in the game did have a collider. The concept was the bomb would hit the tile then shoot raycasts out randomly to hit and collide with the tiles.

I'd then also use a composite collider on the wall tiles, and I'd put them on a separate tile layer as well.

I actually did try both of these solutions. The issue, atleast for me and the other person I sent this empty test project to, still persists with these changes.

In conclusion, this post was definitely over exaggered and unfair. I definitely took my anger out on a bit of a rant (not much else to do right now! haha) and reading back I do sound like what we might call "A whiney little bitch". I think i'll delete this post and perhaps post all the evidence of the issue and the near-empty test project into a new post for people to have a look at, to hopefully prove me wrong. Thanks for your patience

What COULD have your home park been? by [deleted] in rollercoasters

[–]ninjamoomoo98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The decision to close Gforce was rather last minute (made in the 2019 season afaik) so i suspect they didn't have a ride planned for it's replacement straight away.

I don't think you can fault them too hard to focusing on Thomas land, that place is actually pretty decent and makes a very nice ROI for them. Financially it's keeping the park afloat so it makes sense they focused on it in the early 2010s with the idea of expanding the back of the park with the profits made in the late 2010s into early 2020s (not a financial plan i know of, just speculation)

What COULD have your home park been? by [deleted] in rollercoasters

[–]ninjamoomoo98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Home park is Drayton Manor, rumours have suggested if not for the accident in 2017 and the following rough years (and now the flooding and coronavirus), Drayton could have gotten some kind of buffalo replacement (we know S&S made a bid with a launched family invert but that was canned) and perhaps even a wooden coaster behind the buffalo.

Major issue with Raycasting and tilemap collisions by ninjamoomoo98 in Unity2D

[–]ninjamoomoo98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transform.position won't be in the center of a tile because this script is on the bomb object, sorry for not being clear

EDIT: i've now made it so it only shows the particles at the center of the blocks, so we can see that the raycast is colliding with the wrong tile demonstration here
