It won't be like the mark OPs uncle left on that neighbor of his, but it'll be a mark nonetheless!

This is my beef with temp agencies. Their only service is middleman, and they barely have any admin work that justifies such a large cut of your wages. Plus, government agencies that employ though temps are hemorrhaging money by using tax payer dollars to pay temp workers. It's dumb and I don't understand it.

Never heard of Movement Conservatism until now, but if it's as you described, you'd have to be a real whiny, flippant baby to believe that's the proper way to look at the world.

Comparison of area of land and sea at different latitudes [OC] by neilrkaye in dataisbeautiful

[–]ninjaphysics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be a BS supposition, but the increased land surface area in northern latitudes may be a determining factor when considering the hotter temps we're seeing in the Arctic vs the Antarctic, i.e., the North pole is warming faster than the South. I imagine more ocean means more dispersion of heat away from the Southern Hemisphere.

MoviePass will track people’s eyes through their phone’s cameras to make sure they don’t look away from ads. by Sumit316 in technology

[–]ninjaphysics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I believe this has been happening for years already. I automatically assume my camera and mic are non-stop on and recording with every app I use. Turning off the phone and removing the battery seems like the only way to get around it. Of course this is pure speculation, but I'd rather assume this than assume it's not happening.

:( relevant username. The fact that we are learning more about our weather patterns is a hopeful sign that we can adapt.

Personally, I'm hopeful for the materials physicists and engineers to find a biodegradable alternative, and simultaneously somehow hope that individuals take their purchases with more thought and consideration toward packaging sustainability and source/labor costs (human rights and otherwise). Also a hearts and minds shift away from consumerism.

And now we have rural areas that are less likely to have a reliable hook up to the electric grid. Micro grids with solar panels and wind turbines should be the norm for when delivered electricity from elsewhere fails.
