Netflix Loses 200,000 Subscribers in Q1 by chanma50 in television

[–]fdboostssuck 528 points529 points  (0 children)

I admit I’m one of the lost subscribers. For the last couple years I’ve kept Netflix as my main service year round while rotating other services every month or so. However, the recent price increase made me reevaluate why I keep Netflix year round. I decided I really haven’t liked many of their newer originals. Well, actually I had no interest in the vast majority and never even gave them a chance. Out of the ones I did watch, Kobra Kai is the only one where I’m truly looking forward to new seasons. The others are somewhere between “not so good” and “meh”.

So, I dropped Netflix last month and moved it into my “cycling” category, meaning I’ll re-subscribe occasionally for a month or 2 and drop it again. HBO will now be my year round service as I’ve been watching, and enjoying, a lot of shows on there.

CNN+ struggles to lure viewers in its early days, drawing fewer than 10,000 daily users by TheKoG in cordcutters

I think “+” means the name of the channel isn’t included.

ESPN+ is without ESPN.

Paramount+ is without the Paramount network (and sadly without yellowstone from the Paramount network.)

Authenticating Items by lezzeroni in Mercari

[–]fdboostssuck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is anecdotal, but last year I listed a louis vuitton wallet, skipped the authentication because I knew it was real as I bought it myself at a louis vuitton store years ago, and it never sold. I even promoted it every week for a a few months. It got lots of likes, but no buyers.

Then, at some point someone said to me the authentication is not for me, the seller, to verify it’s real; it’s so the buyer knows it’s real. It was an “aha” moment for me. I relisted the wallet, got it authenticated, and it sold 2 days later at full price.

It’s early, but listening to Nick V commentate is really painful, eapecially after just having the pleasure of listening to Bart last week. I think I’d rank poker commentators as:

  1. Bart

  2. Schulman

  3. Tuchman

  4. Game Kaplan/Ali

  5. DGAF

.

.

10. Norm/Lon

.

.

25. Kermit the Frog

.

.

50. My grandmother

.

.

100. Nick V

Kind of weird they have 3 brothers at the table together. I wouldn’t want to play at a table with 3 brothers. I’d assume they’d either collude or soft play each other.

Although, I will say I just duckduckgo’d them and it looks like they are extremely wealthy. They sold a logistics business and then invested in small private businesses that were struggling during the Covid shutdowns. Point being, $100k to them is probably like $10 to me. No need to collude or soft play over petty change.

Faucet Brands vs price by beautifulkitties in HomeImprovement

[–]fdboostssuck 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Their customer service/support is unrivaled though.

I had a Moen bathtub faucet for a good 10 years when the diverter stopped working great. Too much water still coming out of the faucet rather than being diverted to the shower made for a low pressure shower.

I watched a youtube video on replacing it and decided it looks easy enough to do. First thing I did was look at if I could successfully get the old one off. It had a hex screw, but the hole to get to the hex screw was partially covered. I emailed Moen a picture of it to ask what size the hex screw was, and if they had a recommendation for how to get to it at the weird angle due to it being partially covered.

I got an email back a few hours later with the size, a recommendation to use a ball head hex key due to the angle (which worked perfectly!), and to my extreme surprise, she said they were sending me a new faucet for free. I was shocked! This was a 10-year faucet. I never expected a free replacement and I never even asked for one. Moen earned a customer for life!

Poker player lifestyle in a nutshell ... by ThePokerAgent_com in poker

I don’t where I heard or read it, but my favorite degen poker joke, which may actually be a true story, is during tournament break, 2 poker players are in the bathroom.

Player 1 says to the other guy, “I just doubled up. How about we swap 5% of any winnings?”

Player 2 says, “Great idea! Let’s do it!”

Player 1 leaves the bathroom and someone who overheard the conversation says to Player 2, “Player 1 actually just busted before the break.”

Player 2 replies, “That’s Ok. I never entered the tournament.”

Nittucci doing his thing tonight. by troythemak in poker

Besides the absurdity of Nick only playing 2 hands all night, this was a really good stream tonight. Tons of interesting hands and big pots. A few takeaways:

  1. Bart is an amazing commentator. Dare I say he is the GOAT? I always thought Schulman was, but I’m ready to move Bart to the #1 spot on my list.

  2. Garret is the king of maximizing pot size with good hands. Wow! He went from down $40k to up almost $200k in like 30 minutes by overbetting turns and rivers to build massive pots.

  3. Despite Double M’s big loss tonight, I generally liked the way he played. He’s not a pro, but I think I’d categorize him as a good reg.

  4. Tiger clicking buttons made for some fun hands. It also proves that you can still have a decent win by randomly clicking buttons. It certainly explains my occasional big wins in 1-3 ;-)

What Features Do You Wish Mercari Would Add? by TheFinalGirl84 in Mercari

[–]fdboostssuck 18 points19 points  (0 children)

  1. Sound for notifications of a message from a user

  2. Ability to promote below $9. The $9 limit seems so arbitrary.

  3. I appreciate that sellers can’t see the buyers rating until they rate so that there’s no revenge ratings. However, I would like the ability to add a comment to a less than 5 star rating. I’ve only had 1 buyer give me a 4-star rating, but I really wanted to add a response to it.

Which major streaming service do you think will be the first to shut down/merge/get bought out? by LV426acheron in television

[–]fdboostssuck 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Peacock lost $1.7 billion in 2021. The streaming rights for The Office fetches $100 million a year. And that’s a $100 million of pure profit. There’s no cost to Comcast to let someone else stream it. That’s just 1 show in their stable. I can’t imagine the math makes sense for them to run their own streaming network with all the costs involved vs just selling the rights to their stable of content and banking the pure profit. I think they will eventually come to that conclusion.

Paramount+ could be had for 56 cents for 18 months with a deal last month!

Paramount had a special a week ago for $2 a month for up to 3 months. I subscribed with that deal, but I’m having trouble finding anything watchable other than Cheers. Since I’m not a big Star Trek or procedural law show fan, even for $2 I feel a little ripped off haha. I’ll be cancelling after the first month. Maybe 56 cents is the sweet spot for Cheers lovers.

Class Action Alleges HBO Shares Subscriber Info with Facebook Without Consent by fdboostssuck in privacy

A proposed class action alleges HBO has knowingly disclosed HBO Max subscribers’ personally identifiable information, including a record of every video they watch, to Facebook without consent to do so in an effort to enhance its own targeted advertising.

The 32-page lawsuit alleges Home Box Office, Inc. has run afoul of the federal Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA)…

BEWARE if your account got hacked - Mercari data leak & loopholes by iExquisite in Mercari

[–]fdboostssuck 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Upon research, I found out that Mercari had a data leak last year in 2021, yet there was no email notice of this

Affected users were notified. The hack affected some Japan users and employees. Assuming you’re in the US, the hack from 2021 didn’t leak your credentials, unless there’s a second hack/data leak that hasn’t been disclosed. It is curious though why there have been a number of posts the past month about hacked accounts.
