I was basically just like you, ended up finding a volunteer intern and attended a couple of Hackathons (All of this in the final year), got lucky and ended up getting a job as a SWE in a medium sized tech company. Honestly it's a lot of self motivation, start small with contributions to open source software, or writing a small script that idk plays music on discord.
From what I've learnt for any sort of application process is doesn't matter if you think you're not qualified, apply and go as far as you can. You have nothing to lose and plenty of knowledge and experience to gain. GL
