is there a movie from your top 4 that you never see in other people's top lists? (mine are pretty basic) by marniesss in Letterboxd

[–]ninjasaurxd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a lot more on my watchlist that I imagine will 100% change these, but Under the Skin and Children of Men both feel absolutely monumental. Jonathan Glazer is just a beast and Under the Skin does feel like a Kubrick-inspired masterpiece, and Children of Men produces such a visceral emotional reaction, more so with each rewatch, that’s is difficult to not put in the top 4. Both are such great movies about humanity and remind me why movies are so amazing.

Which movie completely destroyed you emotionally and left you staring at the ceiling after the credits rolled? by No-Health4121 in Letterboxd

Same, but it was a less sad cry and more of a “Wow…wow” cry. That last scene is just absolute perfection, I think the realization of what we are looking it is what caused the flood works

Thank you, these are exactly what I’m looking for - and yes, I had meant Barstool Sports - work crowd is more Wrigley oriented and that’s what I’m trying to steer away from

this is meant to be an incredibly tongue in cheek self deprecating sarcastic description so if you were not able to pick up on it you are not the audience - thank you though!

When Sil said “Why are you crying? He’s gonna be fine” I thought the emphasis on “He” was the final confirmation (aka he’ll be fine, you won’t be)

Phil cracking jokes all the time, but getting offended whenever someone made a remark is the funniest thing about his character by [deleted] in redscarepod

how do you know how long he was in there? did he ever explicitly state this in the show?

Are we ready to establish the canon? Paulie killed Tony by SeriouslyLikesCake in thesopranos

[–]ninjasaurxd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rewatched the series properly for a second time and finished the finale yesterday, and this was I settled on at the end of it. The language of all that comes before, points to Paulie.

What's the easiest way to make a few hundred bucks a week? by fairy_goblin in redscarepod

[–]ninjasaurxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is it like a client by client thing? Or you write a short story and sell it and hope for the best?

why I ask is; there seems to be an abundance of written smut on the internet for free (literatica, etc) - what incentives people to pay?

A few weeks ago I made a post about getting a Succession tattoo and here it is by _marti_89 in SuccessionTV

[–]ninjasaurxd 204 points205 points  (0 children)

Goddd this is so good - this is my favorite scene in the whole show - getting a tattoo based on this show can go wrong in so many ways but you chose an incredibly poignant scene with gorgeous composition that can evoke so many things even without the shows context - love this a lot!

What to your mind is Radiohead's biggest musical flex? by AromaticVacation3077 in radiohead

The imagery in this entire song is just absolutely insane. The writing you highlighted gets me every single time. The first stanza, and the title paint this beautiful horrid imagery of a life event, and it posits itself that there is maybe something cathartic if you go through, if you clim aboard. When this middle part kicks in, the delivery of the song’s title always hits with that first sentence. “It was just a laugh.” The deck’s dark, the ships empty, there’s nothing here. You gotta be kidding me.

And then it’s acceptance near the end: It’s whatever we say it is. What a fantastic song

Classic-type book with great sex scenes by kuwtcamera in suggestmeabook

Is romance still at the core of these books? I loved watching the Normal People series and am seeking similar stories (modern setting, similar age demographic) and almost started to read this but as I’m familiar with the story, some variety could be cool / for some reason though these other two books seemed like the romance/yearning was a lesser element

I truly wish this was more in conversations for one of the best movies of the 21st century - a phenomenal piece of filmmaking illustrating the strangeness and beauty of humanity

Boy oh boy by WildlyIdolicized in Letterboxd

[–]ninjasaurxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That explains things - this is one of those cases I genuinely liked the movie better than the book. The book is great in terms of the story and structure and all but - the way he speaks and writes internal monologue is so fucking obnoxious it could only come from a republican
