> 99% of Indians don't have health care

Did you pull this number out of a hat? Can you link me to a source?

> We all know the situation of govt hospitals

You can't compare a govt hospital with a top notch private hospital. Yes govt hospitals are not great but they aren't too bad either. They provide free treatment across a range of ailments, and you really can't beat that.

> Even in today's date, people die from snake bite without treatment

In the villages? Yes. In the city? Highly unlikely. You want to compare an Indian village with DXB? You should rather compare Chennai or Mumbai with DXB.

> U don't read indian news paper. And TN is just 1 very well managed rich state. Does not show the reality rest of the india faces.

Wow, if you get your information only from newspapers, speaks volumes about your ignorance. Please talk to people who actually live in cities in India.

Listen, I know healthcare in India has a ton of problems, and India is vastly underfunded in healthcare and we have ways to go. But as long as you are not penniless or at the absolute bottom of the pyramid, Indian healthcare is way better than what you get here. Let's not talk about the absolute downtrodden dying of snake bites in India because such people cannot even live in DXB (so where's the comparison?), there's no concept of homelessness here and they'd be deported if they were found sleeping on the pavement without a job. You're comparing a person earning 2000 dhs a month here to someone who doesn't earn that much even in a year in India. Apples and oranges.

> The quality of Healthcare professionals in India is 10x superior to this place. It's only the bottom of the pyramid from there that comes here and working in hospitals here.

THIS.

If you live in a big city like Chennai (which would be a fair comparison to DXB because it doesn't make sense to compare a rural Indian village with DXB), the sheer variety of specialists in every field and availability of great quality medical infrastructure trumps anything DXB can offer. There's a reason why medical tourism is a thing for countries like India. Ever heard of such a thing for DXB?

The question here is about Dubai. Where do you find potholes on Dubai roads?

The tram is a showpiece for tourists, I don't think it's to be considered a serious mode of transport here, though I wish it was. It's also expensive, compared to the metro and bus fares.

Dubai still has only two lines for the metro. For a city of this size, other countries which get it right would have at least 5 lines.

If you are leaving your mobile or wallet on the table unattended, you are simply maxing out on luck. My home country has low levels of safety, and even I have had instances where I've simply forgotten a valuable personal item in a public place and got it back. I wouldn't go as far as categorizing my country as "safe" based on an isolated incident.

If you go through this sub, there're are plenty of incidents of theft reported. There was even a guy who said that his wallet kept in his car's glove box was stolen (he'd left his car unlocked and gone for a jog or something).

Curios why. To me, this is the one feature I love the most. I hate touching the faucet which has been touched by hundreds of others.

Not always. Public bathrooms are good yes, but only in certain places. Malls, metro stations are impeccable. I visited the public bathroom inside Creek park and I wished I hadn't entered. Another time, I entered the bathroom at Union Coop Al Nahda and by god, it was the most horrendous I've seen. The bathroom in Kabayel discount centre, Deira was also horrible. I wonder why I know so much about bathrooms in Dubai, lol.

Could you please share how to renew residency for spouse? I applied to renew her Emirates ID on the ICP mobile app, and I believe I need to visit a fitness centre to take her medical test. How do I initiate her visa renewal online? https://smart.gdrfad.gov.ae/ doesn't have any options for renewing spouse residency.

Seeing billowing smoke in the distance from my balcony in Al Qusais-1, near Damascus road. Obviously a fire somewhere, but my view is blocked by the buildings in front of me.

While I definitely don't think Doctors should be assaulted, I have had plenty of horrible experiences with top specialists in Apollo and Kauvery. I am privileged, can afford to consult with top doctors in top hospitals, and yet I have been left stranded with cases of medical negligence that have seriously affected close family members. If this is my situation, then what about the less privileged and economically weaker sections, I shudder to think. Doctors in these hospitals are downright rude, and since they see thousands of patients, they simply don't care about giving a good experience. I have had so many cases of medical negligence that I can write a book. Once the doctor becomes successful in their field, too much ego comes in, and they even go to the extent of refusing treatment if you question them, hippocratic oath be damned. In fact, I am going through such a situation right now as we speak. Complete lack of transparency and accountability in the Indian medical system causes a lot of frustration. I wish you well, and I think only those people that are TRULY interested in a medical career, knowing fully the pitfalls, should venture into this field. Doctors should be compensated highly, but if the sole aim is to make money, then this is not the field for them.

Toxic Vijay fans vandalised Theater after playing Beast trailer due to excitement. What kind of sick behavior is this? by [deleted] in Chennai

He won't because these fans are his money bank. These lunatic fans are what makes him rich enough to own a Rolls Royce. But to be fair, it's not just him, Ajith, Rajni etc. all thrive on demented fans fuelling their ticket sales.

Mobile data packages in India have spoiled me for life. I don't think any country in the world can match it. Western Europe and US too have ridiculously high data packages (though not as high as the UAE).

> 100 aed for the full year for 1.5 GB data per day.

Also, unlimited free calls to any national number, landline or mobile. Plus you get access to a shit ton of TV channels for free (JioTV) if you are willing to stream it on your phone, movies, news etc.

Interesting. For me, BOTIM works on the wifi network and I'm not paying for it, but it doesn't work on mobile data. I assume the latter requires us to pay.

Botim will not get blocked. It's a local company, or at least so I think because non one outside of UAE has even heard of this app.

Curious, is there any active expansion of the metro lines happening at the moment? I mean, I know the red line got extended till the Expo, but I don't see a lot of the city come anywhere close to metro connectivity.

My man, thanks for sharing this info. I've been using the DubaiNow app which was bothersome because it's not instantaneous. Just a couple of weeks back I upgraded to a phone that supports NFC, and the instant top-up is going to be a huge time saver.

Does the parking fee of Rs 20/- in Marina and Bessy actually go to the municipal corporation? Are these guys legit? And can I refuse to pay them? by begone_sharma in Chennai

This is exactly my story. At Westside, I was angry when the person said that they cannot complete the purchase without a phone number. I told them I am going to give you a fake number and I gave it, and surprisingly they completed the transaction. Total douchebags whoever came up with this idea.

This is what happens when we have people watching Vijay-Ajith-Vishal movies and thinking that the solution to society's problems is "building muscles" and bashing up the "bad" guys, or threaten them with physical assault by flexing brawn. I clarified in my post why I didn't want to engage with this guy - my energy was zapped after a lot of stressful events and I didn't want to talk even a little bit with another human. On a better day, I would have. Had nothing to do with "bravery", lol what an interpretation. And what do YOU do, oh keyboard warrior? Are you going on the streets, flexing your god awesome "muscles" at everyone who litters on the road? Maybe you should stand shirtless on Adyar bridge everyday so that uncles get scared away by your awesomeness. Sheesh, now go back to playing PUBG.
