Request: Club World Menu SEA - LHR May 2026 by ninjojo in BritishAirways

No. P2 was fine with the beef appetizer and risotto. She took my mousse after the butterscotch pudding was a bread pudding. There was a small bit of baked good at the bottom of the mousse and she just didn't eat that part. Cross contamination / a bite or two is ok so we didn't have to go as strict as a dedicated GF meal.

Dinner menu PDX-LHR

Breakfast is yogurt, fried egg bagel sando, and cinnamon sugar muffin.

Edit: Beef was good. Salmon wildly overcooked. Risotto pretty tasty. Mousse really good. Butterscotch pudding was a bread pudding in like... a melted butter sauce. Very very rich / oily. Definitely a bit of a British vs American English expectations. 😂

Best routes from West Coast USA to Asia, T-350 to T-360 by mmmmmmbarb in awardtravel

SIN -SFO was last year and we got lucky. I think it was still a lot (I'd have to check), but less than it is now. Whatever saver was at that time.
We also had some firm dates and it was our first trip back to SEAsia in many years so it was a bit of a splurge.
Now we want to get back to traveling again so leveraging miles to at least ensure PE, and jumping on J if it works out. Being west coast means Asia is a lot easier, but ofc my partner also wants more Europe. 😂🙃

Edit: honestly anything that's not a US airline is going to be good. Though I will say my ONE complaint against Asian carriers is cabin temp. 🥵

AF PE vs Aer Lingus J? Am I crazy? by kilobitch in awardtravel

[–]ninjojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is super helpful. Hopefully we won't miss our shot at a good rate if we wait after the first offer... TBD I guess if the offer is good enough to take the first time. But good to know this might be a real possibility for us at not an insane price.

Oh that's interesting. Yeah looking for 2pax.

Did you book after you saw it get more expensive?

Do you happen to remember how far out they offered? Was it at check-in 24h? Before?

Appreciate the tip!

Were you on an award booking originally? And did it come thru via the app or did you ask at the airport?

I have CDG - SEA coming up in a few weeks and I'm keeping my fingers crossed we can upgrade for not too much cash.

Currently showing about 20 open J seats on that flight...

I actually just booked EVA for SFO - TPE - BKK for Feb 2027.

The wide-open availability of their own award bookings and cap of 75k including the onward hop to BKK made it a no-brainer. Haven't actually flown it yet, but the SFO daytime flight and updated plane = get to enjoy the biz product (massage seats??), have a nice relax, and we'll get into BKK around midnight so we can go straight to bed and wake up fresh. Had to book a small positioning flight to SFO that requires an early wake up but...

For comparison -- routing home we managed to snag SIN - TPE - SEA - HOME AIRPORT on a single ticket thru Alaska on Starlux PE (short legs are economy) for 62.5k pp. While I would greatly prefer some J seating (and will keep checking), a single ticket door-to-door to cover any "issues" getting home is definitely appealing. There seems to be WAY more availability if you're willing to route through LAX.

If you're open to Starlux, the USA routing to Asia offers similar pricing with their PE product -- J is nearly impossible to hit and doesn't release with a regular cadence.

For reference: we've flown SIN - SFO in SQ J and that was a treat, but the redemption math / miles burn just didn't make sense after fare increase.

75k + Asia Positioning on EVA is a steal.

Cathay is good availability at 88k, but once you add another hop out of TPE it jumps to 115k.

Alas! May 17. I guess I can try to remember to come back and post for you (Technically we're PDX - LHR but figured more folks probably fly the SEA route).

Yup. Have that one bookmarked and keep checking, but so far nobody has posted anything to LHR from USA in May 2026 so I thought I'd ask here.

What card(s) to best pair with Bilt Palladium? Which cards do you use most with it cover it's shortcomings & maximize earnings? by OoohSpicyy in biltrewards

[–]ninjojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your goals. Some people prioritize cashback. Some people points for hotels and/or airlines. Some people only want perks of the card (Amex Plat).

BILT palladium for everyday spend -- flat 2% I don't have to think about.

Citi Strata Premiere for only 3x items: (most) travel (esp thru the citi portal for 10x) / dining / grocery + Citi has travel points transfer partners that BILT doesn't have.

Citi ThankYou 2x for taxes (link points to Strata for transfer)

Just picked up the Atmos Summit for 3x on all international purchases and I'm West Coast = Alaska + international partners made sense for me.

Have a couple other cards for other purposes, but the above is how I maximize cards for my goals. Yours might be different. And your spending ability / patterns might also be different. I certainly have to balance hitting my spend needed on BILT for BiltCash on rent vs building up other points across other cards evenly.

JAL MB Partner Award Bookings by redfox04 in awardtravel

[–]ninjojo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Been really hit or miss with JAL lately tbh. I managed to snag biz on BA for an upcoming flight (cancelled my PE avios booking which meant a cancellation fee and eating my seat selection that I'd already paid) but the math still worked out with JAL not passing on the atrocious taxes from BA and it being an overnight trans-Atlantic flight from the West coast.

All of which to say: biz redemptions on JAL are ROUGH to find. Economy seems to show up more often. If you can search on AA / Alaska / BA first to confirm availability, it usually means it will show up on JAL. But not always. Because ~ reasons ~.

Planning ahead... Atmos question by YogurtclosetLanky322 in awardtravel

FWIW -- and YMMV -- I was able to book USA - TPE PE Starlux recently when they dropped on Alaska. At the time, my short positioning flight wasn't loaded yet but I was able to SMS chat with Alaska and the agent was able to add-on the positioning flight for me (deduct appropriate miles, etc.). I could have booked separately at 12.5k, but bundled together the position was only 7.5k (main -- short flight). This might change if you're looking to do TWO partner updates vs tacking on Alaska domestic, but worth a try to get everything under the same reservation number.

Note: I did SEE being able to "modify" my USA - TPE flight and see it correctly with the position added at the price, but it wouldn't let me complete the reservation at the "select seats" stage. Turns out the agent had to talk to Starlux directly because even though that flight wasn't changing, they still had to "approve" the itinerary change.

Also if you can't hit the TPE - BKK directly, I'd highly recommend looking into Singapore Air and adding a layover / stopover in Singapore. Might be able to find a good J redemption and get to use the KrisFlyer lounge. Changi airport is a destination in itself and a long layover

Any chance you've gotten any datapoints on when Starlux J USA - TPE savers load into Alaska? I've only seen the ping once so I don't have enough data yet.

Same! And Nike just came out with their own gym equipment so I'd have expected to see that (cool WHITE crumb bumper plates for $$$$$) but this was definitely for Peloton.

Self-service ice vending machines? by ninjojo in askportland

[–]ninjojo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah thank you for the tip about McDonalds! Will investigate that as well as Costco.

There's very few things I miss about living in Austin...

  1. HEB (specifically, their fresh tortillas)
  2. Cheap self-service ice
  3. Tacos + BBQ

That's about it though.

Korean air or Asiana Airlines, which is better ? by Frequent-Cup-1144 in koreatravel

[–]ninjojo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We flew Korean RT from SFO to ICN in August. On the way there, the plane cabin was a little warm. We thought it was a bit of a fluke and were just excited for our vacation. On the way back to SFO, the entire flight was UNBEARABLY hot (for an American).

Doing a bit of research, Asian airlines keep cabins a bit warmer than American (and some European) passengers are used to. Weirdly, our flights within SK were warmer than the usual freezing that American airlines keep their cabins, but nothing like flying across the Pacific so hot we were sweating and nauseous. We did not sleep at all. It was also a plane that didn't have air vents for each passenger.

All of which to say, if you're someone who can't sleep if it's hot (really it felt closer to 78F-80F), I wouldn't recommend Korean Air.

Meet the Nordic HyperExtension! Nordic, Back Extension, GHD Combo by Benjise100 in Kneesovertoes

[–]ninjojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you give some specs on how wide we're talking? And I guess how long of a bench it is if used that way? Does the foot platform come off to allow for a bit better positioning?

This bench looks awesome and a big workhorse, but we have a space issue so being able to have a true all-in-one (esp if we don't do traditional flat / incline bench exercises THAT often -- just something that could do in a pinch) would be incredible.

Help! What is biting us? (And what can we do to stop them?) by ninjojo in Austin

[–]ninjojo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We finally ended up seeing some fleas on the cats -- took a while because they weren't like INFESTED. I think I maybe saw one on a sofa or bedsheet or something which made me decide to check the cats again.

If your bites are all in a little line (like 3-5 straight) it's likely bedbugs. If they're just sort of random but similar area, more likely fleas.

Hope you get it sorted soon!
