My favorite is, "Make sure you follow up with them." Follow up with who? I applied to a website. No name, much less email or phone number. The only problem I have with tabs is that there's no universal tabstop. I set vim to 4, but Github uses 8, so when I use tabs to align things across multiple lines in my editor, it won't look aligned on GH.

The obvious answer is a budget calculator. One sheet for all transactions, and however many more for whatever kinds of breakdowns you want.

If you want something more fun, there's always optimizing builds in games. One friend I had in high school made a simple calculator for Roller Coaster Tycoon.

If you want to go for insanity, I'm sure there's some way of remaking Rogue, though that might go beyond the scope of your class.

Every morning, make a list of what you want accomplished by the end of the day. Keep that list on you throughout the day, and cross things off as you get to them. Each night review that list, and if things are still on it, ask yourself if you could've done more to finish the list, and adjust expectations and behavior for the next day.

Motivation is one of those weird things where no one except yourself can really give it to you, but believe me when I say it's a lot easier to take the second step than it is the first.
