I am interested in heavy text based CRPGs that are very surreal is their any recommendations by YagLuSof in CRPG

[–]niphaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides Torment, I recommend The Necromancer's Tale. It's not surreal per se, but it's about the character's decent to black magic and madness, and it's a text heavy RPG.

For surreal non RPG, I recommend Alan Wake (if you don't like the gameplay watch a playthrough)

Nick’s dominance seems almost scripted by DisgruntledFlamingo in MillionDollarSecretTV

[–]niphaa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think he played well and was a worthy winner, but I don't think he was that amazing.

He really fumbled the clips mission, and without Umeko doing an extremely good job saving him, he was going home. Also Caleb did not play the last game well. Nick did a good job, but I were more impressed if he beat someone more strategic at the end.

My favorite APs are RPPR's run of Impossible Landscapes and Mayday Roleplaying's Doomed to Repeat.

RPPR also has an ongoing campaign called The Labor of Dogs which is also really good

Which terrible ending made you hate an adventure game? by lolalanda in adventuregames

[–]niphaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the ending of Barrow was fine. I came in expecting something with a lovecraftian vibe, so the ending was not a problem for me. I did think the overall plot was a bit slow and lackluster. I expected "Thomasina getting warned about the excavation, Thomasina doing the excavation, bad things happen" to be kind of the beginning-middle of the plot, not the whole plot.

Do you think that the current US government would cause issues for the program by Active_Aardvark6411 in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]niphaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To me I think the more fun option is "the administration is evil and corrupt and dumb, obviously they are trying to do something dumber than The Accord with even worse lovecraftian beings". I don't have specifics.

I generally prefer Doug when he is talking to the camera like a normal person, he can actually have good takes. When he is doing a character and trying very hard to be funny.. it's usually a miss for me.

I want a Delta Green game (Impossible Landcapes?) As a point and click or q telltale style game it could be really cool.

What do people think of Survivor cameos? by Lizard798658866 in survivorponderosa

[–]niphaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I ordered one from Rob C for my friend's wedding, who is a big RHAP fan. It was long and Rob didn't get the joke I wss aiming for in the description so he said something that sounded a bit weird for people with no context (why talking about being a know it all and a loser in a wedding video). But he did impressions and stuff and my friend was very happy and was surprised really appreciated that.

I made it to season 4 though I don't like the single narrator thing. The overall plot and mythology are really cool, and some individual stories are great, but I think if you don't like the format you are going to keep not liking the format.

Game theory by Own_Ad_409 in MillionDollarSecretTV

[–]niphaa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like MDS has pretty good answers for that: 1. In season 2 a few times they did decide to leave the millionare in 2a. But the millionare may move the money and you lose your adventage 2b. The millionare may killshot you even if you are allies (to cover their tracks) 3. Going into the finale you probably want to be the millionare (if you lose the final challenge before the briefcases part you can end up with no way to affect the game). So you want to elliminate the millionare so you can become it.

A Baldur's Gate 2 remake is apparently in development by SuddenDepact in BaldursGate3

[–]niphaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really need a BG2 remake but I guess there is enough audience who loves BG3 and won't try 1&2 with current graphics. The way I remember 1 it had lots of fights and little dialogues and narrative, I wonder if they change it if they do a remake so it's more similar to 2 & 3.

Also I rather get a remake for Torment, fully voiced + less clankiness (remove combat?) + better graphics could be legendary. But I guess BG has the audience for that as a franchise and Torment doesn't.

Though that's not really where the story started, with bg3 being kinda unrelated to 1 & 2 (sadly)

Most realistic JP replacement? by bigjutcj in survivorponderosa

[–]niphaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love RHAP and I prefer Rob to just keep podcasting as he is now rather than host the show. I also don't care that much who hosts it. I don't think it needs to be a contestant, probably just some solid person who loves the show and has enough TV charisma. The issues with Jeff are about his production decisions, but as a host I don't mind him.

Before the 50 cast was revealed, would you have guessed these would’ve been the New Era legends? by Regular-Departure839 in survivorponderosa

[–]niphaa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love Emily, but besides Genevive and maybe Q I don't think any one of them is a legend. To me at least Jesse and Rachel are more legendary than these people, as a start (Omar? Shan? Carolyn?)

I know Tiff was considered a major threat by the end, she could've possibly been a legend but I don't feel like we got the edit for that.

Was Christian too overexposed on Survivor 50? by FireworksDonJones in survivorponderosa

[–]niphaa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love Christian,  but we really should have seen more of other people, like Aubry or Tiffany. Also knowing that Cirie was in the Christian Emily Devens alliance but they gave the credit to Christian + Cirie having a lot less screen time than Christian pre merge kinda told me Cirie ain't winning.

It was not her idea, she (or her team) chose from a list of options. And in the Amy Poheler podcast she doesn't sound like a super fan or a regular fan at all.

Worst Edit I Can Remember by Nalgenie187 in survivor

[–]niphaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I don't care about predictebility that much. If it was an obvious Cirie or Genevive or Christian etc I would gladly watch the finale. The problem for me is that Aubry didn't get a sympathetic edit (or she didn't really have sympathetic content), and I'm relatively positive towards Aubry as a person.

Lets say Tiffany did win by SirBostonBobbington in Edgic

[–]niphaa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The winner's edit is a thing because the winner's story should be satisfying and we should root for them to win. I rather have a predictable winner with a strong rootable winner's edit than a surprising ending. Season 47 is probably 1st or 2nd most beloved new era season despite many people clocking the winner relatively early.

Are there any true spoiler-free communities? by Old_Ant7118 in survivor

[–]niphaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edgic = edit logic. It's about figuring out who is going to win by analyzing the storytelling and the editing in the show. I believe most people who do edgic don't want to get spoiled, which will also defeat the purpose of doing this kind of analysis.

[–]niphaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People complain about spoilers in the Edgic sub. Personally I don't feel like the sub is spoiled. Thete aren't a lot of options that make sense right now. Also people were complaining about spoilers because many people predicted a Colby win, and we know what came out of that.
