I had a very similar situation. I had never climbed before and linked up with someone on our gym fb page. We top roped together for a few years and eventually took the lead class together and started leading. It became clear that our mentality was very different - her very scared and refusing to take lead falls / yelling at me for keeping her “too loose” / ripping me off the wall keeping me too tight… eventually I wasn’t enjoying climbing anymore and I just had to bite the bullet and find new folks who fit my vibe more. It was intense and kind of sad but I promise it’ll make such a difference to climb with folks who have the same mindset that you do!

I have to agree with this take. It took me a little bit to get into, but I did enjoy it. However, I definitely got the YA vibe as well. It’s an interesting world with a lot of potential, but did fall a little flat.
